Methot had 12 points in 68 Games playing beside Erik Karlsson and did Jack all in the playoffs. He was a pure shutdown defender. Not similar to Petry whatsoever.

2nd part, Montreal is **** because of injuries and we have the worst coach in the league. We have very good individual players, we just don't have a system

Fwiw that's twice as much as Petry has this year. And yes he was more defensive than Petry is, he was the exact definition of a stay-at-home D-man. But they're also held in very high value at the current market. Methot was basically Chiarot with term, and this year Chiarot's value exceeds Petry's. Even @A_Habs_fan agreed with the notion.

That second part was heard even before Ducharme came in...I can recall Habs fans saying the same thing about Julien.

I mean Montreal had very good metrics under Julien. I don't care what most people say because most don't have a clue (talking about the coaching thing, not HabsFan). Ill stick to what the numbers tell me, not some idiotic fans.

The thing is, at the deadline prospects + picks have the least value and during the offseason they have the most. So Chiarot will likely get more than Petry, but that doesn't mean he's worth more.

" According to Canadiens insider Renaud Lavoie there’s four forwards who the Canadiens aren’t looking to move.

Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Josh Anderson and Paul Byron are untouchable according to Lavoie."

One of those aren't like the other

The 3 make sense then there's Byron, maybe Hughes wants to keep him for now since he hasn't played in what he calls "his best form in years" yet to get his value up

Ok I'm going to break the chain, (mostly so Beter doesn't delete this squinty smile ) with some actual NHL discussion.

Do we think the Devils will try to roll with Akira Schmid and Jon Gillies, and if not, what goalie do they look to sign/trade for?

My prediction is a buy low option on Dobby, or if they really want to get wild, Strauss Mann if he does well in the Olympics.

We’re tanking this year

I wonder if a 3-way trade between Dallas/Montreal/ and one of the competitive teams interested in Klingberg could work

That in the end could look like this:

Dallas gets Petry
Montreal gets picks and prospects for Klingberg
And whichever competitor is the third team gets Klingberg (double retained) from Montreal

Cause to me this could work out very well for all 3 sides. But it would take alot of planning and would probs have slightly less pieces than the famous Sakic trade

I think that's reasonable, he's been a really solid swiss army knife for Detroit's bottom 6 but not enough to guarantee anything higher than a 3rd. A 4th sounds like a good valuation considering his level of play this year.

Replacing Klingberg with Petry this year after Petry catastrophically bad performance this year doesn't evoke much confidence.

If Klingberg is to be dealt, I'd move him strictly for futures. If DAL were still interested in Petry during the offseason, I suppose we could take him if the cost is low and Habs agree to retain salary.

Otherwise DAL should just stay as far as possible from those sweepstakes. In that regard I'm kinda happy about having Nill as our GM - I don't have to worry about him doing anything, and I mean that in the most literal sense as possible.

Surprised with Anderson over Gallagher.

Not really, Anderson is our first true PWF in decades, Gally is more replaceable than Anderson

Imagine having to root against your favorite team leading when coming to the last period.

Not a healthy mindset, but it's an average day for a Stars fan.

If we lead the game under Bowness' system after 40 minutes, we're more likely to lose that game after the full 60 is up.

Seems like Petry can get a 1st + good prospect (and even more in the offseason)

Its not Hab fans overvaluing them

This guy just said he doesn’t know the market, and is basing this on Petry returning to form. There’s absolutely no reason to assume a 34yo will return to form, that was a stupid comment to make, so there’s realistically no way you can value Petry that highly UNTIL he bounces back, nobody is giving up a 1st + top prospect for a hope and a prayer.

Michael Houser on waivers

2 games played

2.00 GAA / 0.948 SV with the Sabers

Any guesses or does he slide through waivers

Devils might give him a shot, otherwise he probably goes unclaimed.

The reasoning was that Hughes wants to build a very fast team and Byron is top 5 in the league in speed
