if the sens are retaining 1.8 on brown they can pretty easily get more than just 1 first round pick

Sens can get that kind of value for Brown as he is. They don't need to be involved in this kind of nonsense just so Tampa can be the ones to get him. There will be plenty of offers out there should Ottawa trade him, which they probably won't.

This doesn’t work for Tampa, as neither Katchouk nor Foote would likely pass through waivers. Further, Ristolainen really isn’t needed with Rutta and Bogo on the team. Brown would be a nice pick up, but I doubt Ottawa is interested in retaining half and moving one of their best forwards.

I would play Cernak over Risto on the top pair, but at 1.3 I think he'd be a nice add for a Cup run

So TB loses Katchouk Rutta Appleton and Bogosian for nothing in this scenario because none are waivers exempt and would be claimed. Besides the taxi squad is being abolished after the all star break according to the League

Cernak and McDonagh are TB's defensive shut down pairing

Honestly I’d be open to it if there’s a significant increase to the return.

If Ottawa retains 50% then it’s literally the same contract situation as Coleman when Tampa traded for him and I’d argue Brown is better. First and a good prospect is ideal.

This deal is Joseph and a 1st but Ottawas also giving a 3rd back so I’d pass. I like Joseph but LW is the deepest position on the team, Ottawa could get a better deal elsewhere.
