Genuinely asking - do Habs fans actually think Chiarot or Lehkonen are worth any of these returns or is it purely from some insider speculation? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I'm as shocked as you are. He's a fine bottom 4 DMAN, but the return will be at minimum a 1st based off of reports from several including Johnston, Friedman and Engels. The habs reportedly could do it for a 1st today, but HUGHES did an interview with the athletic where he expressed he'd rather players recently drafted over a 1st in this draft.

I think Chiarot is not worth this, however most playoff teams have been linked to him for the reported asking price. STL, FLA, TOR, LAK seem the most aggresive.

I should also point out that YOU WILL like this player for what he is and he was amazing in the playoffs. A big upgrade on Scandella for sure

The blues won't be trading neighbors for a rental. It's really simple to understand

    change the 2nd to a 3rd and it's a maybe for colorado.

edit: on second thought the avs cant really afford him since they have better options to re-sign.

Definitely fills a need. I'm concerned about how much interest the Blues might be showing in Chiarot at the price of a 1st - they should just find a cheaper option if that's the case. But I'd say there is about a 1% chance that Neighbours gets traded. He's penciled into the lineup for the next 3 years on an ELC, that's going to be more valuable than renting Chiarot. More valuable than our 2022 1st as well IMO, Neighbours is progressing well.

1- For me, it's a big meh. And his playoff is so overrated it's not funny.

2- Here's the thing. Scandella plays on the 3rd pairing, and he does that pretty well. Chiarot would presumably be asked to ride shotgun for Parayko on the top pairing, and that scares the bejeebers out of me.

Scandella on the 3rd pairing >>>> Chiarot on the 1st. That's my view. I don;t want him at all. And a Neighbours ask is a flaming, heavy metal guitar, neon siren of a non-starter.

If the Blues are going to spend a 1st (and I do not think they should), it better be for Lindholm. Not... him.

    COL doesn’t want Drouin.

I will say Chiarot's playoffs can't be overrated. He played 30 minutes a night against other teams top lines and if he's going to slot 3rd pair I'd say thats a scary blueline to face come playoff time

Erm, he played 25:15 on average in the playoffs last year. This figure is nothing overly special. In fact, that puts him 22nd in the league for playoff TOI last season. Besides, are we really going to pretend that he was the alpha on his pairing?

Chiarot's '21 playoffs goal share with Weber: 52.63%
    Without Weber: 20%

Weber's '21 playoffs Corsi share with Chiarot: 46.42%
    Without Chiarot: 53.48%
