Boston Commits to a 23 Cup for Bergeron

Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 4, 2022
Published: Feb. 4, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Won't happen because Boston has to admit defeat this year and dump off a bunch of cap hits and players Sweeney likes.
Also all these players have to be available in the off-season and Bergeron needs to take a very team friendly deal to make it happen.

Just for fun. Would this team have a shot?

No shot on trading Strome. I see Coyle as a decent downgrade that isn’t worth it.

This is a whole lot of wishful thinking.

The majority of these trades are never happening.
NO way Bergy signs for $2mil...........he's still a great producer and that's a lot more than a hometown discount.
Hertl is signing somewhere else for much more. Most likely so is Rust

Coyle has NMC, living a dream playing for the team he grew up cheering for. Good luck getting him to waive. Fla, TB, Vegas maybe. Anywhere else, probably not.

To answer your question, sure I think this team has a shot! Although Foligno would have to improve quite a bit and stay healthy!

Coyle has an 8 team NTC. Pretty sure that leaves 24 teams. 7 teams on the list will be Canadian teams and then Arizona. New York wouldn't be a problem

His numbers are pretty similar except when Strome has been playing with Panarin. Pretty sure Coyles numbers would go up with that assignment too. Strome will be asking minimum of 6x6 as a UFA. Coyle could replace him for a million less on a 4 year contract. They might like it. 🤷‍♂️

I figure someone will sign him for that so had to go long term to get him.

He takes the discount so we can ice a team to give him a chance at a Cup. They aren't winning one anytime soon without dumping the useless baggage and signing some big names. Very good chance he's walking away from the game soon. He has put his body through hell for this team.

Literally started my team explanation with "Won't happen" and listed most of these reasons but thanks for re-telling me what I said. 👍

10 team NTC. Good enough to cover all the teams that have the cap to trade for him…the rangers are not one of those teams.

      So coyle says no….so does:
Zboril, Vaakanainen, Studnicka, Steen, Bergeron, Hertl, and Rust. This is really bad all around.

If what you are saying about their numbers being similar is true, why on earth would you want to trade them 1 for 1 and get a guy you will then let walk after this season, while Coyle has 4 more years of term on his contract? That makes ZERO sense. The answer is, you want to dump Coyles contract. Also, their numbers are nowhere near similar the last 4 years. Coyle as a Bruin averages 0.18g/game and 0.43pts/game. Over the same 4 seasons, as a Ranger, Strome averages 0.25g/game and 0.75pts/game. Strome is significantly more productive. You say he benefits from playing with Panarin. I'm sure that's true, but Panarin also benefits from playing with Strome, and even he would tell you that. They have a good chemistry. Does Pasta benefit from playing with Bergeron? Does Marchand? Of course they do, but that doesn't diminish what they do. That line has chemistry, so it works. Panarin and Strome have chemistry, so it works, and the Rangers aren't breaking that up unless Strome's contract demands force them too.

Man some of you people take this stuff serious. 🤪

It's cute how you think a 10 team NTC protects Coyle from a trade. If I trade for another 5 mil player he fits any team. Maybe Arizona eats some of the cap hit for a pick. Lots of ways to pull off a trade with almost any team if both parties were interested. Players better be putting in the 10 places they don't want to go or they could wake up in one of them. 😂

      Yeah
My point was to dump Coyle's salary. Was pretty sure that was obvious because neither he or Strome are good enough second line centers. You realize this stuff is for fun right? 🤣

My response wasn't fun? Rangers are more than happy with Strome at 2C.

They won't afford him next year so this was an idea for a cheaper, shorter contract, rather than lose him for nothing. It was just a fun idea.

So you were hoping Ranger fans would comment that it would be so fun to give up the better player and also inherit the bad contract from the Bruins? Yeah, sounds like a really fun idea.

This was a joke scenerio, just to see what kind of a team was available to put together. None of the trades or signings are meant to be that serious. I state as much at the beginning. The fact that you guys get all bent out of shape about any of this tells me you are way too invested in something you have no control over and it always seems to be the same people. None of us are NHL GM's and have no idea what any of them will or won't do. Doing Armchair GM is no better than playing a game from the app store. It effects nothing in real life. All I asked is would the team have a shot. So yeah, it was supposed to be fun.

Who is bent out of shape? I simply pointed out why its not a fair one for one trade. Get a thicker skin.

You do not state as much in the beginning.

If this site is so trivial you probably have a better use for your time. Go do that.
