I neither know nor care who or where the rumor of three first round equivalent pieces as a return for Laine came from but frankly its both insulting and ridiculous. Laine's poor performance stretching back over 2.5 years means he is netting a fraction of that. Zero chance in hell the Ducks move McTavish for him in a 1 for 1 deal, let alone including a first. I didnt like it at the time but man am I glad that Winnipeg moved on when it did and somehow got PLD for him.

Think Vancouver will go ahead and pass, rather re-sign him

The part of me wanting to see Laine play play with Zegras is just going nuts but what we will have to give up is a no go for Anaheim at the moment

Max Jones, Sam Steel, Jacob Larsson and our 2023 first for Laine. Or instead of one of the youngsters, you can have Adam Henrique or Jakob Silfverberg.

Laine probably won't get that kind of return.

Verbeek saying we’re mid rebuild has me a little on edge about trading a 23 1st rounder — don’t know how high up it would be. If there was lottery protected I think I’d be comfortable with it though

Laine stinks. Not a chance he gets 25% of that return.

Ducks would never give up any of their big three - McTavish, Zegras, or Drysdale.

Laine is not worth that at all. Easily declined by the Ducks

Not a fan of either team but this is a delusional trade that the Ducks laugh at.

If laine is traded, I still feel his value is likely a 1st and a Top Prospect; so, don’t feel the value is far off, but I also don’t feel ANA would give up McTavish and a 1st unless CBJ add, or ANA is able to dump a bad contract on them.

I’d be willing to do this trade, have CBJ add Bemstrom and/or Foudy, and take a bad contract off of ANA’s hand, if they have one they want to dump?

Bems and Foudy have both been victims of the Torts train, as well as just bad timing with CBJ having a lot of F prospects who need playing time coming up. Bems in particular is someone I feel could do well with more playing time in ANA.

Wouldn't move the 1st for Laine. Especially if the big three UFA's leave.

Note that I specified the 2023 pick. But I sympathize with your feelings.

Still a big no from Anaheim. That doesn't change a thing. Foudy / Bemstrom don't compare to McTavish at the moment and CBJ wants an additional 1st that could very well be a lottery pick? Verbeek probably says "No" immediately. And the Ducks aren't in the need of cap space at the moment. Getting rid of Silfvy's contract would be good, but it's not close to being as valuable as either asset going to CBJ. The Ducks shouldn't / wouldn't give up McTavish nor the 1st. It would completely contradict Verbeek's view of things.

I think the sentiment (at least mine) in holding the 23 1st is that we don’t know how aggressive Verbeek is going to be this off-season. Out side of our pending UFAs could he try and move Fowler, Gibson, Silf, Henrique and Shattenkirk? If he does that pick could easily be more valuable in the Connor Bedard draft no less.

Until we have a clear vision of where we are headed the last thing we should do is entertain moving a first round pick in the next 3 years

@Salzy basically said everything already. It's pretty uncertain what next season may look like and I really like the very early top 10-ish prospects of the 2023 Draft.

I, in general, don't like the idea of giving up 1sts at the moment.
