Sabres pass
If we wanted to trade for a goalie, it would’ve already happened

Can the Leafs even afford Couturier's extension?

Why would the Flyers even consider that? 2 of their best assets, with one being retained on, and only 3 somewhat quality assets coming back? With the 3 other players being essentially cap dumps, why would Philly consider that. Quantity does not equal quality, and this is the epitome of that expression.

Up until Flyers trade this looked decent. Then all sense was lost.

Couturier is signed long-term. PHI will not be trading him in any circumstance. Especially for a pile of absolutely meh.

Toronto wants the CUP then they will have to overpay someone if not the HABS. It`s the cost of doing business at the trade deadline with any team.

You don`t want to overpay then you play with the guys you have. Or you go get a has been and hope that he does something for you in the playoffs

But isn't the goal "improve the team" because this doesn't do that.

Anderson is being outscored by engvall, is significantly worse defensively an engvall can play c
Why would the leafs over pay for a guy worse than the 4th liner every leaf fan here wants to dump?

Yes the goal is to do that but a Power Forward like Anderson costs a 1st round top 10-15 pick not a bottom 28-32 pick and prospect. When the HABS traded Pacioretty, HABS got Suzuki, Tatar and a 2nd.

All I`m saying is that to get a player like Anderson from any team; what you are proposing I believe will not happen.

Are you talking about the power forward who has a grand total of 16 points for the last place team? Paying 611,111K per goal seems like a great investment. The Habs can keep their bad contracts.

Engvall has more points than Anderson, playing tougher defensive minutes and all in the bottom 6. Paying 4 million more for Anderson vs Engvall seems like a great way to damage your cap in a significant way. Seems pretty smart

"Power Forward like Anderson"?!?!? Who has 9 goals and 16 points? Like Rickard Rakell, who has 10 goals and 20 points and is much more responsible defensively?

Moreover, comparing Anderson (who has never scored more than 27 goals in any season) to Max Pacioretty, who had scored more than 30 goals FIVE TIMES before Montreal traded him and has scored more than 30 goals once since then, is utterly delusional.

uh huh .. brilliant. If you believe that Anderson isnt a fit on the leafs, thats your opinion which you are entitled to. However when your comment is "for a guy worse than the 4th liner every leaf fan here wants to dump?" than the reality is , its the dumbest take i have read. Using that brilliant logic, i could have told you in 2017 ,why would you want to trade this young 40+ Goal scorer for this aging superstar who is down to 33G ... This young up and comer is cheap and is better offensively than that lazy has been .

Go figure out who i am talking about and come back to me with the brilliant Engvall take,

I wasnt comparing anyone to anyone ... clearly, this was too complicated for you ... I am sure Engvall will take leafs all the way

He's a good depth piece. He won't be leading anyone anywhere. That will be Matthews, Marner, and the rest of the core. Stars win cups, not overpaid 3rd liners named Josh Anderson.

Looking forward to seeing the "stars" lead the rest of the core to the Cup. Like they did last year .... ( another brilliant take ... )
