TDL 2022

Created by: Kaprisun
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 7, 2022
Published: Feb. 7, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Wild have expressed interest in adding a center at the deadline. The value of Giroux has been reported to be around a 1st, good prospect, and a good bottom/middle 6 forward. Swaney and 3rd is added on to compensate for the salary retention, and with the current state of the Wild's prospect pool, the price of Giroux at 50% is reasonable. While I would prefer for the Wild to do nothing at the deadline, it feels like a trade is inevitable.

The Wild have also expressed interest in adding a defenseman, but with the 3rd pairing and Gologoski performing well and the lack of available rental RHD that are an upgrade over Dumba, I don't expect the Wild to make any moves.

A Reimer for Talbot trade would be beneficial at the right price, but I don't see a goalie trade happening until the off season.

I really like what the Wild have put together as a team and I feel like they are going to swing hard this trade deadline. Claude Giroux is a good pick-up for sure, but I think the swing will be harder, like a Tomas Hertl from San Jose hard and then find a way to extend him immediately as part of that deal. Hertl with this forward group would be insane.

Reimer isn't getting traded for a veteran. Picks and/or prospects.

read what you said.
“Something close to a 1 for 1 deal including Talbot and Reimer could be a good way to shed some cap and provide an upgrade in net, but I don't see a goalie change happening until the off season.”
so your getting an upgrade in net, and saving cap space.
what is the sharks motivation to do this deal?

Talbot and Reimer are around the same age, have similar enough contracts, and have similar base stats (Save % and GAA), but Reimer is better Analytically. This trade can go either way depending on how much the Gm's value analytics, but I would agree that Reimer has more value than Talbot.

There is literally zero reason for SJ to do this. Reimer is cheaper, better. Talbot is a good goalie but it doesn't make sense for SJ.

I wouldn't argue Reimer is better, but I would agree he is better for us. Reimer's cap hit is better, but Talbot's isn't bad either.
the end of the day this is a very lateral move for both teams and I don't see a valid reason either team would want this. both goalies are well liked in their locker rooms, both goalies are outplaying their cap hit.

Besides the fact chuck fletcher won't deal with us, way too much for claude. Just because a gm is asking for something doesn't mean you give it

I don’t see the incentive for the sharks to take on $1.5 mil more in salary when they are already tight on cap next season for just a 5th for a goaltender that has been worse this season.

Rask is a UFA, Swaney and the third are throw-ins, and Khusnutdinov is a B prospect at best. Not only is it not too much, it’s potentially not enough.

Marat is an A prospect. Claude G isn't getting a 1, 2nd , and Marat Khusnutdinov. People are overrated trade deadline value of players on here

This was made based off of the reports and rumors that I've seen. I agree that it's a lot to pay for Giroux but he's still a solid 1C and with his resume a trade like this isn't too far off.
