Its a tough one for me, the only reason why Im willing to go as far as trading Nils is because I am confident we can resign Copp.

Krav's talent hasnt fallen off, only the attitude he displayed at the beginning of the year putting a stain on things. However his dislike for the Rangers org may give Phili a reason to want him.

If you can re-sign Copp on a decent deal that would be great for the Rangers. Copp does not cheat the game.

Honestly that's a fair take, he is close with him so I could see him taking a decent deal to stay. I'd think 5 years at 4.25 million could get it done.

Geez, thats even less than what I thought, I was thinking 4.5m. Every little bit will help the Rangers tight cap situation.

Ultimately, I think thats what it will come down to. Either a 2nd round pick or a lower pick with semi-decent prospect.

I was thinking that he’s probably looking at 4.75 million for 5 years in Winnipeg. But with being in a US market with less tax I’m sure he’d take 4.25 million.

Well, NY is one of the highest taxed states in the US. So.... 4.5m haha

I just noticed there is a tax calculator on this site: https://www.capfriendly.com/income-tax-calculator/4500000/rangers

I haven't read the details, but something to play around with.

What’s more realistic, a 3rd? 2nd?

Look at Copps numbers and play. Hes about as consistent as it get. 200 ft player whos scoring numbers steadily have been going up. I think hes worth a back end 1st, a top notch prospect, or a 2nd + a ver good prospect. I offer up Nils because Im fairly certain that we can resign him keeping the 5 year window with the vets we have alive. Our center depth has been the most crippling part of our team. This solidifies it.

I know what you think he’s worth, I see the proposal!

He’s going to be a rental. Rangers can’t afford to re-sign him.

I’m thinking a 3rd + 4th (becomes 2nd if rangers make ECF).

They sure can afford to resign him, which is why Im willing to give up a bit extra.

If the deal is Copp for Chytil + Nemeth they might be able to squeeze him in

You have to assume the Rangers find a home for Nemeth in the offseason. However Chytil does not have a comparable value to Copp. Its not even close.

Is it a tight squeeze? Sure. The top 6 is the same as we have now, doable. PP doesnt change. 3rd line is a huge upgrade from what we have. Defense is pretty much the same. Could use a better back up goalie but its doable.

Still doesn’t match up to what he’s paying in taxes here lol. It’s 49.92% for tax here. Plus there’s more value in NY in terms of sponsorships.
