Done in a heartbeat. Reimer was my target in the offseason for a 2 year deal.

Sharks ask you to attach a 1st to Mrazek instead of a 7th

Yeah not sure why the Sharks would do this unless there's a higher pick. Reimer has been a huge bright spot this season, replacing him with a worse goalie for incredibly little compensation

I don't see giving up a first for a 33yr old back up to Jack. They get a reliable and 5yrs younger goalie in Mrazek and cost certainty for 2 more yrs, How bout a 4th?

We'd have the 2 nicest people in the world playing nets. Other teams would feel bad if they scored.

Gonna have to keep mrazek then

Reimer's value is already ~a 2nd if you add a negative value contract like mrazeks you're gonna have to give up more. Simple as that.

I love Optimus Reim, but Leafs aren't giving up that kind of draft capital. Mrazek actually has been pretty good the last couple weeks. We're not looking to move him cause he's bad. We're looking to move him cause we need cap space to sign Jack. SJ was an option, that's it, when you look at it as a hockey move. Someone else will be willing to take him. Supposedly teams are already calling.

I love Reimer but I don't think his value is a 2nd.

Idk man he’s been completely game changing this year for SJ. If it wasn’t for a 4-5 game stretch where he was playing through an injury and got peppered, he’d probably be closer to a .925-.930 right now. He’s stolen like 10 games for San Jose this year. And he’s only making 2.25M.

Okay. The trade as is just makes no sense for SJ so you’d probably have to look elsewhere to swap Mrazek.

all good. We need a solid back up that can step up in case of injury, and is a minimal cap hit next year. Reimer fits the bill perfectly, but we just can't afford to move a pick that high, un;ess we're unloading an additional salary.

I'd do Mrazek and Richie and a second for Reimer though. I'd even throw in Dermott as a young value added D man. (He's got upside, but is expendable at this point)

Still not sure that's what the Sharks would be looking for sorry. Think that could be relatively appealing for other teams though!

I kinda agree with you. Reims been great, and if they do move Hertl this year they'll be looking for young, cheap new "stars" to grow with the team to take over when the old guard starts to fall apart. Need to balance the entry level deals with their current long term ones. They have some promising guys in Dahleen, the Merkley's and a few others, and an absolute future stud in Eklund. Add a few more guys and high picks dealing Hertl this year and Meier next and they'll be golden

Yeah you're spot on. We've got a bunch 2020 draft class players which should pan out well too. It's just that the Sharks would command a LOT for Reimer because he has been so good for us - pretty much the only reason the Sharks are even sniffing a playoff spot right now. Still not sure which direction we try to go in though it all depends on Hertl's decision to be traded or re-sign in San Jose.

Get the best of both worlds............trade him before the deadline for a killing, and then resign him in the off season. DOUBLE WHAMMY!!!!

Reimer is signed through next year already. As well as he is playing, he does not have the resume of Marc Andre Fleury , who will be leaving Chicago for that #1pick and prospect. Solid not spectacular, would be Mrazek and on a reasonable caphit, will tide them over until Hill is ready to be #1, if that is what they are thinking.
