Description
Cap goes up by 1 million

I thought about making Montour the cap casualty instead of Hornqvist since he is one of my favorites. But it just doesn't make sense, since I acquire Soucy to accommodate Montour's game. The Panthers can't afford a guy like Hornqvist making 5M and playing on their 4th line. Also, with how deep the Panthers are on forward, I'd rather cut from there than from defense.

Marchment's contract was tricky. I don't believe he truly is a ppg-player, so I bridged him. I didn't really find any good comparables. Only Eric Robinson, so I copied his deal.

I decided to keep Tippett and made him a deal that looks kinda like Eeli Tolvanen's contract. I still like him, even though he hasn't gotten much of an opportunity with the Cats. If I were to trade him, I probably would package him for a guy like Giroux at this year's deadline and really push for the Cup.

For the 23-24 season, the Panthers would have about 23M to keep guys like Huberdeau and Weegar without too many depth guys to sign.

Trades
1.
FLA
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
I've seen fans of 8 teams willing to take him for free here in CapFriendly (Ott, Nyr, Mtl, LA, Van, Phi, Buf, Ari)

I don't know if he'll fetch a late 3rd, probably not, but it won't cost anything to move him, that's for sure. I see Ottawa as the best place of the bunch for Horny
OTT
  1. Hörnqvist, Patric
Additional Details:
I love Hornqvist, but he is suffering from the Panthers' depth. He is still good for at least 15 goals and 40 points even with 4th line minutes. I'd see him playing on the 3rd line on the Sens.

Most importantly, Hornqvist brings leadership and experience to a young and upcoming team. He was one of the big reasons the Panthers emerged as one of the top teams in the NHL.
2.
FLA
  1. Soucy, Carson
Additional Details:
2021 TDL trade

I liked how Soucy played in Minnesota, and he has continued to be good with slightly more responsibility in Seattle. He is a great 3rd line dman.
SEA
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Montour was traded for a 3rd in 2021. He was playing bigger minutes than Soucy, although with worse results. I think a would be 3rd fair

Maybe. He could also have teams like Pittsburgh and Arizona there.

I mean... was the split with PIT really that acrimonious?

I imagine its 7 Canadian + Arizona

He threw is Penguins gear on the sidewalk a day after finding out about the trade. It was pretty rough.

Anyway, there's still a lot of interest for him on the US based teams, from what I've seen on here.

Oh yeah, I had completely forgotten about that
