It’s also not great. That’s like saying a point per game ECHL player should be in the NHL, and the ECHL is obviously a better league than the third tier Swedish league. Plus the transition to NA ice.

He's from Toronto, He'll likely end up in Toronto or Ottawa if I had to guess

John Leonard had a ton of hype coming out of college.

Through his first NHL season last year - he showed a ton of potential but needed work before earning a full time NHL job. He put up 13p/44 games.

He then went to the AHL after losing his "job" to others in the camp plus 0 points in 5 NHL games this season (and was quite invisible) - which was followed up by a lacklustre AHL stretch.

Through his first 14 AHL games this year, he had just 2 goals, 1 assist & 1.9 shots per game. And nothing noteworthy in camp plus a "okay" NHL showing last year (then a poor NHL showing this year) had him in a really foggy spot and he seemed expendable (which he still could be).

But Leonard has turned things around - and he should see some NHL ice IMO soon if he continues (since the Sharks are dog water and full of injuries).

In his last 28 AHL games, he has 14 goals, 11 assists & 3.8 shots per game. He has found his game and now is actually producing "full time" in the AHL which is necessary for his development and confidence.

Michigan is a joke, what a stacked team. Now thats a home team worth paying to watch.
