Canada will potentially be able to add Cole Sillinger. And players who had COVID and couldn't go, like Thomas Bordeleau (USA) or Aatu Räty (FIN). Should make for a great competition.

There's less incentives to do good at the WJC now though since the draft will have already passed and unless it's your last WJC opportunity, you'll probably play in it again next year/have plenty exposure during the full season

+ Jacob Perreault should be able to play for Team USA. The paper work that would've allowed him to play for the US instead of Canada didn't get through fast enough .

I don't think we see nearly as good of a Canadian team. I don't see Perfetti/McTavish/Power/Sillinger going. The NHL teams will not risk it right before the season.

Germany potentially could add Peterka and Reichel. Technically also Byfield, Quinn and that draft are all eligible, if 2020 players go this could be an awesome tourny.

Some of the NHL teams might risk it. Look at Cozens and Dach. Sabres risked it with Cozens and won and Dach got injured for the full year

Yes, but this tournament is right before training camp. Usually when teams let their players go, it's because they know what they're capable of (Cozens wasn't a full time Sabre at the moment), but Sillinger is a full time NHLer + Power will likely be in Buffalo's top 4.

Dach had already played NHL games before hand. It definitely will be completely dependent on the teams, Power might be allowed to go but Sillinger won't. Kind of like Dach and Cozens went but Lafreniere and Hughes didn't.

Would be great if the Leafs could bring him over to play with the Marlies but probably will find a new team in the KHL. Hopefully one that has a VHL team since his previous one only had a MHL team, he is way too good for that league.

Lmao there's a Penguins fan arguing that Kapanen is miles better than Lehkonen, who is an overpaid bottom-six winger that hasn't been great defensively this season.

I find it nice that Dallas drafted 2 of the top 5 best players in the 2017 draft.

That was a great draft for them, they also got Oettinger out of it.

Oops I put it in the prospect thread by accident. But Lehkonen> Kapanen by quite a fair margin. Look at the charts. It's closer when you compare the last three years, but Kapanen has been very bad this season. There's a reason why he's traded in all Penguins ACGMs.

I mean, I’d take Kapanen before Lehky but it’s close, Kap has the higher offensive ceiling but he’s also less well rounded

Kapanen has always those good streaks that make you believe he'll be an offensive threat, but he can't put it together. He has 0 vision of the game. I'd take Lehkonen long before him.

Penguins fans have literally been trading Kapenan for nothing these days so MTL could probs get him for Pezetta lul

Leafs will take him back with all that disrespect and price tag lul

Maybe but if the Marlies make a strong case imagine Ovchinnikov and Amirov on the Marlies next season...

But per reports hes coming to the Marlies as soon as he gets his work work permit (MLSE will probs get him it by Monday)

I wonder if NJD will let him play a few games at the end of the season like VAN did with Quinn 3 years ago

Could they do that and then send him back to Michigan next year (assuming he's not ready)?
