If you need a laugh, Craig Button posted new rankings yesterday https://www.tsn.ca/craig-s-list-players-to-watch-at-the-chl-nhl-top-prospects-game-1.1774905

His takes are so bad.

Guys I will be looking forward to watching a bit more closely tonight (Gaucher, Firkus, Warren, Lamoureaux, Korchinski) all who MIGHT be still around if the Leafs keep their 1st.

Although it would not surprise me to see Kyle trade back into the 2nd and look to acquire another pick.

Defencemen who I'm high on, based on somewhat limited film scouting, are:

Casey ofc
Lane Hutson (great QB, offensively gifted)
Mattias Havelid (pretty good at the point, not as dynamic as Casey or Hutson)
Nemec and Jiricek (play similar games, both big men who can move and pass)
Lian Bichsel (another big man who can punish but is also offensively talented, playing in the SHL)

I like all of them except Havelid, my big faves are Nemec, Mateychuk, Casey, Lindgren and Hutson

I was gonna comment some of the worst positions but I stopped bothering to remember after I reached like 20 names by the end of round one

So if Jagger Firkus or Nathan Gaucher are available when the Leafs pick, are absolutely my favourite two selections. Leafs are lacking a high end C and both those guys fit the bill.

Also Noah Warren is a beast. Another guy I would love too add. Leafs need to start adding some more guys with an edge to there game instead of always going out looking to trade for someone.

Should a couple of these guys drop I’d love to see Kyle trade back to get a couple extra picks.

My standouts from the game:
Firkus
Gaucher
Warren
Nelson
Luneau
Ludwinski

I watched a Fronts game a month or two ago, Ludwinski was arguably the most skilled player out there. If he can put it all together, he can be one hell of a player.

auston matthews
don’t see why TOR would need another centre unless matthews walks and tavares falls off a cliff

Depth my friend, depth.

For the longest time it was LW, now:
Robertson
Knies
Amirov
Holmberg
Hirvonen (projects as a winger in the NHL)

Leafs currently have prospects at C:
Abramov
Der-Arguchintsev
Douglas
Tverberg
Miller

And realistically prospects drafted when the Leafs select are at most 2-3 years away. Tavares should be making the move to the wing like Stamkos.

So yes, for me, adding a C prospect is important for the farm.

I have a hard time believing a team like the Leafs who will be hard pressed against the cap will be trading a player like Roberston who is still on his ELC. Next year IMO will be the year we start to see guys from the Marlies being graduated to the Leafs.

And there is no chance a player like Knies is moved. He is the perfect player the Leafs need in the lineup. We normally are going out looking to trade for someone like him.

They window is much larger than that. I have hope that Nick will be a contributing factor for them.

He cant play in the playoffs if they sign him now can he. As if he cant I dont see the point

Yeah they could sign him but if he only can play reg season whats the point. Just let him sign with the Marlies for the remainder of the year or something

SJ is okay. LV, not so much imo. Like, just say VGK, that's the official abbreviation, so just use that
