We aren't trading all of this for Giroux. Fletcher isn't dealing with us anyway

Fletcher isn't trading either Risto or Braun in the same deal with Giroux, especially with his asking price for Risto

Why? So he can add a 3rd or 4th rounder for each of them? They picked up Risto hoping he'd return to his old self and help anchor the D. That didn't work out and that's why they are looking to trade him. The rest of the league knows it as well. Braun's been pretty good, but he's still a 34 yr old UFA D man, who doesn't add much in the O-zone. His max is a 3rd at the deadline.

This trade already has an overpay of a 3rd rounder (a first and two good prospects is an excellent offer for G), so I feel they should ask for the D depth as well instead of a prospect that will probably never play in the NHL.

He's a professional GM in the highest league in the world. He's not going to avoid or refuse to deal with anyone, no matter the history.

Well, I'm not sure where he got that info from, but if it's true it's extremely short sighted on Fletcher's part. And if he said it to the media he honestly shouldn't have a job anymore.

According to Russo,, fletcher sees what is going on since he left and doesn't want to help him former team, send a player there to contribute to helping them win. It's why you have been seeing alot of talks about Colorado and philly

But this is where it doesn't make sense. Yes, he might be helping his former team this year, but this deal would help his team for many years to come. It's a really good return, and he still has the option to resign G as a UFA. You can't take things personally when it comes to the business side of hockey..........unless you're the Habs and Canes.
