Klingberg creativity

Description
Writing this from a Canucks perspective. So the Canucks deal is the focus because Toronto needs the flexibility to acquire Klingberg. They want to dump Ritchie, so I think Vancouver makes them cough up a 2nd to take back Ritchie. The main part of the deal is trading Ferland's $3.5 LTI for Dermott. Toronto keeps Ferland on LTI to make room. They give Dallas an extra draft pick to retain on Klingberg to make the money work - I realize it looks like an overpay at first glance, but they need Dallas to retain or the deal doesn't work.

Dallas accepts. Papers already signed and sent to the NHL's offices.

So you wants Leafs to give 2nd to Canucks to take on Ritchie and then Leafs have to give Dermott only to get LTIR Ferland?

I think Vancouver needs to add here

If you adding Ferland to Leafs does anything, your mistaken

Ferland is LTIR, creates cap space/roster space for Klingberg. seems valuable to me

If Ferland is that valuable, keep him and send us a pick instead.

Ferland does not have any value.

He has some value to TOR, having him allows them to exceed the cap (see LTIR FAQ)
I think the main value is that VAN takes ritchie's contract (no retention). Dermott and 2nd are.... compensation?

But then you can't accrue cap space. This is entirely all a bad proposal

You do not know how LTIR works.

A lot to give up for John Klingberg, When you've a 0% chance of resigning him.
