The willingness to discard JB is getting a little out of hand. Husso looks good, but are we ready to hand him over the keys?

For me it seems like a pretty measured reaction. He's getting worse, it isn't up-and-down swings.

Quality start %:
2018-19...66.7%
2019-20...56%
2020-21...51.2%
2021-22...34.8%

His save % drops and his GAA rises. Not saying that Husso is the solution but I do think if the Blues could get a big return for JB then they should absolutely jump at it this offseason. The cap space alone could be worth it.

My philosophy: If your goalie is not an elite, franchise, consistent player then simply don't hitch your wagon to them. I understand why they gave him the contract at the time - can't have a fully built contender and a question mark in goal - but at the same time I knew it was going to be a massive risk.

I know, I just wanted to have a little fun. My honest opinion about Binnington however is that he's just an average starting goaltender, and a 6 million dollar cap hit isn't efficient value for that, so that 's why I'm entertaining the idea of selling high on him while he still has value

I just gave Husso a 3 year deal so the Blues aren't over burdened with term just in case it doesn't work out

The Blues weren't even good enough to be contenders the last couple of seasons, they've outperformed expectations this season

Then why is he worth a 1st + a roster player? You've laid out a pretty clear case that he's a cap dump.

Shhhh, don't let the cat out of the bag before the rest of the league wakes up to it

Yes, I laid out a pretty clear case that he's a cap dump.

Yep Fleury's trade value speculation was a wild ride between the lead-up to VGK expansion and the Hawks trade.

Tbh the point I was making is that it doesn't matter what the stats show or what I personally think because there are teams out there that value players based on tons of different things. If someone wants to pay for Binnington, a former cup winner that plays with confidence and has a big personality, they will. Someone paid a 2nd round pick for the shell of Duncan Keith. If someone posted that trade on the armchair before it happened they'd be berated. I think there are teams that would look at Binnington and think that he is someone that could help them win. I also think that if the Blues traded him for a 6th round pick it would be a net win in the offseason. Goalies are random, except for the very select few that can consistently put up great results. I can appreciate what Binner did - going full legend mode to win the first cup in Blues history - while also realizing that he isn't an NHL-starter caliber goalie and was not considered some elite prospect when he was on an AHL loan a few months before winning the cup.

I can think of at least half a dozen teams who will jump at the chance to trade a 6th round pick for Binnington and largely disregard his track record
