Probably gonna have to add a 1st or if it’s one for one, Samuel Girard probably comes the other way.

Girard for a rental? No

I think the idea behind trading for Rakell would be to extend him tbh depending on who gets him. I have a feeling that he’s not just gonna be a rental.

With Pat verbeek now the Duck new GM, And he did state that they're still rebuilding i think he'll take it easy. With the Ducks still in the playoff hunt. I seriously doubt he'd be much in a hurry to deal Rakell.

100%. Ducks fan here-We absolutely do not expect Girard back for Rakell tears of joy

Honestly, I'd be quite content if it was Barron coming back. RD is still a question mark in our pipeline, so this would be the perfect type of deal.

Verbeek said something yesterday along the lines of "We don't plan to keep rentals through the deadline...if they extend, great, if not, byeeeeeee". (Not an exact quote, obviously tears of joy)

Still, the difference between Rakell and Girard is pretty significant. I'd throw a parade if there was a 1 for 1 deal, but it would also be one of the biggest thefts in NHL history, and Sakic hasn't really done anything to make us think he's Chiareli tears of joy

Barron for Rakell is a good deal for the Ducks.

Neither Girard or Barron is going to be traded for a rental, come on now.

Verbeek will want to make his mark on that team with an eye on being contenders in ~3 years. Holding onto expiring UFA's is not the way to do that. He's been brought in to freshen things up and I'd expect him to move out the old guard to give the team over to the younger guys.

Rakell is going to be in the second tier of forwards available in a buyers market so he'll probably fetch something closer to 2nd + B prospect. Barron is Colorado's top prospect now that Byram and Newhook have graduated, and I highly doubt Sakic is entertaining moving him for a rental - probably not even someone like Giroux.

Nice if he said that he means it, he's a man of his words, Would be curious if he's going to try and resign Lindholm or move him.

I'd like to see him re-signed, but wouldn't be against getting a haul for him.

That being said, with Gio as the other top LD available, it's going to affect their markets (Bangs on drum-There hasn't been a LD return a 1st round pick at the deadline since 2015). As dumb as it sounds, and as ridiculous as it is, I wouldn't be shocked if Manson gets a better return than what is offered for Hampus...that being said, Hampus is the top LD on the market by a long shot.

I'd love to get Barron for Rickard, but like everyone else, I don't think that's happening. I'd settle for Colorado's 2023 second and someone like Beaucage or Foudy.

How about Helleson and a 2023 2nd? Maybe little bit of an overpay still, but they gotta have the best offer if Rakell is someone they like to snatch up

I don't think Sakic would move Helleson unless it's for someone like Giroux (elite) or JT Miller (top 6 with term).

A 2nd + Beaucage seems reasonable. I doubt Sakic wants to give up on Foudy so soon, his game is so perfect for the Avs style given that he's a super fast skater and a one-may transition machine.

A high end second pairing defenseman signed long term at a reasonable AAV for a middle six winger on an expiring contract? You must be joking!
