MTL depends how you rate Jost. I suspect you're right though.

PHI: If an extension is in place before the trade you may be right, but as a rental that is more than likely enough (probably too much). Giroux will probably only ok a trade to like 3-4 teams so there won't be a huge number of teams bidding or capable of beating an offer like 1st + Barron, especially given that RHD is a big need for them.

OTT: Seems like a slight overpay from Colorado, not far away though. 25% retention only costs around a 4th. But again it depends how much you value Compher.

I hate Jost as downright bad. Bad deal, not close.

Ottawa rejects, imho. Compher doesn't interest them and Beaucage doesn't move the needle for a 4th rounder and retention. Drop the pick maybe and then add something because Compher isn't of interest to them

Problem with the evaulation of Giroux is that you cant have extension in place before hes dealt, and even if theres just 4-5 teams interested, some of those teams have more assets and even possibly more cap space (NYR and NASH could both offer a better 1st, a prospect, and MORE without retention). I think with a blind betting game as to other teams offers, you can;t automatically hedge your offer.

And while Giroux might waive to go to a real contender in COL, he could keep his family (and new baby) in Philly and just go the 2 hrs to NYR.

Barron, Col 1st 2023 and one of Jost or Compher to PHI probably gets it done, but again you cant base an offer on what you think hes worth, you have to base it on what you think hes worth, what you CAN pay and what others MIGHT be offering

It's going to be fun revisiting these comments when Lehkonen gets moved for much less than 2nd + Barron grin

Forget about Barron and Helleson entirely. Big, mobile RHD prospects who can skate and have legit top 4 projection don't get traded for 3rd line wingers.

Im not a big fan of Jost, but a young center (?) under team control for 3 more years has value.

With the pick on top, IMO Montreal takes it if they cant find a better offer.

Dude just stop. There are MTL fans that over rate their players, then there is you. MTL wouldn’t get Barron for Lehkonen straight up. You’ll scream about Coleman’s value but Lehkonen isn’t Coleman, doesn’t have another year on a sub $2M contract left and when he was dealt the league wasn’t dealing with the effects of a covid cap. At the end of the day he is a very good 3rd line forward who has never been much of scorer and doesn’t play center. That type of player doesn’t remotely net you a top d prospect.

Giroux to COL is always just an exercise in fun, because the Avs will need a 3rd team to take salary even if PHi retains 50%. But yeah this take is super accurate.

If Giroux signs an extension the Flyers want more, but for a rental that will probably be about right
