Philly will get a better prospect and a first from a team for Giroux. This package has one out of the two

Have you seen or looked at the season Behrens is happening? He's basically a first round pick, you get an actual first round pick, Bowers in a super well rounded NHL ready former 1st round pick, and Compher is to make the money work, but also can be traded at the deadline next year

Heres a list of 18 year old D men with over a point per game in the NCAA:

Sean Behrens

End of list

If you include 19 year olds then this is the new list:

Jake Sanderson
Owen Power
Sean Behrens
Scott Morrow

Im not saying Behrens is going to be as good as Owen Power, but I think youre underrating him as a prospect

Behrens is still a less valuable prospect because they don't really have any control with him. College prospects control Thier own destiny and it diminishes Thier trade value, not a whole lot but teams trading for them have to be sure they will sign or they screw themselves.

No interest in this at all from an Ottawa perspective.

He can only become a free agent in August 2025. Thats 3.5 years from now. I dont see how being in the NCAA diminishes his value unless its a Fox situation where he makes it known that he wont sign with his draft team

Who are you comparing him to? Hes less valuable than who?

Yeah that Ottawa trade looks tilted very much in AVS favour. Think Zub is being underrated here, a lot.

Nick Paul is also an excellent bottom-6 player. keep in mind that most hockey fans don't watch many other teams games so they rely on hockeydb a lot. It's impossible to listen to that many games. I did for so long trying to watch as many games as possible, it's hard to keep up, particularly after you have kids.

Nick Paul statsline doesn't explain how good he is.

But not only that, this trade doesn't accomplish anything for Ottawa. Zub and Paul are important players. Helm and Murray give them less and these prospects/picks don't accomplish much for now, if they ever do.

Yes I agree. JFreshHockey has posted Paul's metrics which are excellent defensively. Also very physical, can PK, play C or wing, and win draws. He'll be a great addition for any contender.

Yeah, he just plays the right way, hard to play against and can do a bit of everything. He's not elite at anything, just good at everything, which is what you need/want from bottom-6 players. I don't think everyone realizes the importance of having a strong bottom-6, it makes your top-6 even more efficient

When you say " he'll be a great addition for any contender", you're totally right but that's also why Ottawa has to extend him, if their plan is to make the playoffs next year. I would go at 3.0 AAV x 4 years. Hopefully he's not too greedy but I think he'd be very very happy with this, maybe a bit less if we're lucky
