That’s kinda steep for a dude with negative possession metrics.

I don't want Hagel going to the Avalanch if they do trade him. I'm also not sure this fills the rumored 1st+ Top Prospect+more?

Can a Hawks fan share more about Hagel? I feel like he’s pretty hyped up by the Blackhawks fan community but I don’t know much about him.

I think we going to want a 22' 1st. Whilst the overall package represents value, we are reportedly asking for a much larger payment. One that would require a better prospect than Kaut.

It seems like a steep price at first but the more I think about it the more I like it. I think a lot of the value comes from the contract, just like it did in the Coleman and Goodrow trades to TBL. 1.5Mx3 is a fantastic deal for a middle 6 wing on a contender

He plays and is producing like Coleman did when Tampa traded for him (i.e. on pace for 50 points) and has a $1.5m caphit for 3 years. Would be tremendously valuable on a contender battling the cap.

Yes you're right. Maybe Colorado should remove Kaut from the deal sarcasm

51.5 CF% this year, albeit with 60.7% OZstarts. Last year he had 62.4% DZstarts and 45.9 CF%.

His zone usage obviously affects his Corsi. Also worth noting that he's playing for a tire-fire of a team.

Compher scores every single time he plays at the United Center (last time he got a Gordie Howe hatrick), that's worth a lot surely... wink

thats why I like the value...his contract is wonderful. Imagine a bottom 6 when you have both Hagel and LOC signed for multiple years for under 3m combined. That frees up the avs to do some bigger moves if that type of cap flexability

Great target

I'm not willing to make that type of bet on Hagel. He's still too much of an unknown to give up that much, especially when already down a first from the Kuemper trade. Maybe under different circumstances, but not as it stands. Just my opinion.

He's also young and an RFA at the end of his contract, so whilst it would be an expensive acquisition, it would be solid asset management.

The price of acquisition also needs to factor in the fact that the capspace gives you the opportunity to be a little bit more flexible in UFA. For example, Hagel at 3LW for $1.5m compared to Compher at $3.5m saves $2m, which could be the difference between signing Giroux or Burakovsky at $6.5m or having to settle for a $4.5m level forward (eg. Tatar).

exactly, good point. Also factor in Jost, Maltsev and NAk on cheap deals as well. You could have a complete bottom 6 locked in and signed for what..around 7m total? Thats how teams extend their cup windows. Smart cap allocation

Hagel $1.5m --- Jost $2m ---- O'Connor $1.05m ($4.55m)
??? $1m ------- Maltsev $1m -- NAK $1.2m ($3.2m)

Total $7.75m on the bottom 6. As you said, that's how you extend your window.

Jost at 3C would be risky though, particularly with Newhook being new to 2C. The extra cap flexibility would probably allow for an upgrade on Jost at 3C however, or you could re-united Nichuskin and Jost which was reasonably successful last year.

ideally you would want to move Jost down to 4th line and look at a 3C, like we have talked about on other rosters. Like Lets say Stastny wants to come back to Colorado for a cup chase and signs for a reasonable 3m 1 year type deal. You have him and newhook in the 2C/3C spot and that is looking like a deep team even after probably losing kadri and maybe Bura in UFA

Trade Jost plus for McLeod. Might take a bit to prise him out of NJ though but be even cheaper and a decent guy on face offs.

I can hope can't I? It's got to still be more realistic than most Habs fans trades! tears of joy
