Detroit HC Redo

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 14, 2022
Published: Feb. 14, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Colorado trade is self explanatory, mid teir prospect for a decent player now.

Washington gets a slight upgrade at D, slight upgrade at F and some stability in net all while shedding about 1M in cap space this season and 2.75M next season.

Dallas gets a good young top 4 RHD for the future to replace Klingberg and Detroit gets a good young centre for the future and a couple picks to make up the difference. This trade is dependant omln getting Petry for not a whole lot.

Petry to Detroit, I guess Yzerman is interested for the right price. Since Habs fans think he's worth a couple top pieces and Detroit fans think Montreal should be paying to dump him, I chose the middle ground. Montreal gets a bunch of cap space and a pick, that's a pretty good deal for them considering Petry wants out.

Vegas trade to shed cap, Martinez seems expendable with Theodore, Hague and the McNabb extension. He might return more, not sure on what his value will be in the offseason.

Johansson trade is actually just him signing as a free agent to get to play with Edvinsson

Signed a bunch of our prospects to play in Grand Rapids.

Draft Nemec or Jiricek first round.

I'm starting to believe you have an affinity for Carl Hagelin. Love the hair. Is it because he's a former Michigan Wolverine?

Honestly I just think he could be a nice veteran presence. I don't actually care for him that much I just think Washington, as a former trade partner, could have a deal worked out to possibly maximize a return for a few pending ufas. Unfortunately I think hagelin would be like panik and just have to be a throw in.

      Nice hair though.

I feel like the avs deal is more place holder and Beaucage is what I would like to see returned. I think Namestnikov could return a late second down to a third and I feel like that's what Beaucage is.

I think that's the most Yzerman can pay for Petry, even if they retain I don't see him paying much more.

i expect namestnkov to get a 4th, maybe 3rd with retention. avs will need wingers that are nhl ready in a year or two so it would have to be a pick and not beaucage.

with retention i can see petry getting more but without i think he'll be dumped like fluery was last offseason so a 4th isnt that far off.

Avs accept that, though I think COL wants to add a more physical element than what Namestikov brings the bottom 6, but he is a safe bet because you know he works in COL.

I don't think the value of the Caps trade is bad at all, I just don't think it accomplishes what we need to get done. Greiss isn't the solution in net and our defense really hasn't been a problem. Kempny should be like #8 at best on the depth chart, so I don't think there's any pressure to upgrade there. We mostly just need some scoring injected in the top nine and Gagner isn't the guy to do that. It's also highly unlikely we move Hagelin just with how much Laviolette loves the Hagelin-Dowd-Hathaway line (and for good reason with the exception that Hagelin can't score to save his life).

I felt this one is pretty fair for all teams involved and Detroit could look really good in two years time. I would be hoping they draft a Caufield type player in the first round next year, just a good raw goal scorer to play the wing.

We can definitely use a goal scorer

You mean top dman on LTIR? He's only played 11 games this year and it kind of shows Vegas doesn't need him.
