Allen doesn't have negative value. That trade is bad for the Habs. Why would they do that?

Petry without retention gets you a late 1st and a B prospect or a 2nd and a B+ prospect, there is probably a roster player thrown in there to balance cap.

Chiarot without retention gets you no more than a 2nd/3rd and maybe a lower end prospect imo.

Lehkonen can get you a 2nd or an NHL ready prospect

There's no ''Reduce expectations'' as we were pretty much on the money value wise since the get go (Except for a couple Koo-Koos yelling Pelletier on roofs all night). Most ACGMs were sending him for a 1st+ WITH retention, the value went down because of the lack of retention (Pitlick isn't enough to be a push for 3 years of 2M+ retentions) so here we are with the lucid fans being happy of the return and the Koo-Koos annoyed as always.

Everyone including myself said Toffoli was worth a 1st + 2nd + cap offset, we got a slight bit more in the form of a 5th. Not really sure what you are upset about, we were never going to get Porrier + a 1st+++ obviously the Flames didn't want to part with either Porrier or Zary so we settled on their 1st. There are still other moves to make but this one was right on target with expected value.

Detroit has no interest in Petry unless you pay us handsomely to take him.
