Description
Massively mortgaging the future but could potentially extend Giroux for a few years and try to make another run or two before it's time to retool.

You could call this selling Binnington at rock bottom, except the bottom is still falling out of his game so who knows how low he can really go. I don't want to be hitched to that contract, maybe Kenny Holland sees his starter in Binner.

Oilers could get the cap to work for this season but term is a massive massive issue for Edmonton so better off sticking with kosk even if he ends up on waivers later this week which wouldn’t be a surprise.

You think they'll send down Kosk and go with Smith-Skinner? I've been wondering if there is any chance Binnington gets the Matt Murray treatment also. Send him down as a wake up call and see if he finds his game. I doubt anyone with the cap space would claim him at this point, he's stopping .898 for $6m x 5 yrs. I don't think they'll do it but they don't have back-to-backs for a few weeks and now would be the time to get him trending in the right direction.

Not only is Giroux in now way, shape or form a need, but that price is outrageous. Why are Blues fans suddenly trying to trade for Giroux? I don't get it.

I think you'd be surprised to see the perception of Binner around the league. He hasn't done anything to prove he's a starter since he got annihilated in the bubble. 5 more years at 6m...

Always buggin me about the lines lol. Saad has fewer pts/gp than any of the other guys in the top9 and he plays an all-around game. If they stacked the roster that's what would happen.

He's an extremely good hockey player that is going to be traded for a bunch of hopefuls. Maybe he isn't a need but he'd add wins to the lineup and allow the Blues to match up to anyone.

Oilers have one more road game then come home at which point kosk will be coming out of covid protocol. Choice is either send skinner back to Bakersfield right after posting a shut out which for Edmonton this season kinda big deal. Or waive kosk but don’t have him report to Bakersfield enough goalies down there have him stay in Edmonton practice work with the group and be on stand by if smith gets hurt again.

I know he's really good. He's not at all needed. Our forwards are fine, they already match up with anyone. Why overspend on a pure rental we don't need? I'm baffled.

Well then you and I know it ain't gonna happen, just fun to see what it looks like. Getting the feeling that G will be an Av, but Sakic has been pretty timid on deadlines so we'll see. Army will address the D at the deadline if he can get a fair price, and then he'll start working on next year and beyond.

Giroux is great, but unnecessary, at least this year. Maybe the Blues trade Tarasenko and make room for Giroux next season as a UFA.
I'm also not sure if Edmonton accepts this deal right now.

Fair enough. I'm watching the Ducks myself. They could be one 3-4 game losing streak away from sell-town, and then Army pounces for Lindholm.

Someone on Twitter said the Blues are a team Giroux would be willing to go to. That’s why you’re seeing all the trade ideas

Yeah, I saw that yesterday. Doesn;t change the facts that the Blues don't need a forward, don't have the cap and don't pay through the nose for rentals. But you know how folks are, they like to chase the squirrel.
