He wasn't great last season, but he's been a new man this year. Can't argue against giving him another year with NSH, at that price.

tis the week of ~32 year old fringe 3rd pair D-Men getting extensions: Bortuzzo, Boro, and Ruhwedel. Who’s next?
Greg Pateryn? Jack Johnson? Brad Hunt? 😂

I admire him. If half the stars in the league had his dedication and work ethic, they'd have broken Wayne Gretzky's records. The guy is a beast.

It is difficult to feel bad for pro athletes in the context of the pandemic, when so many people have it worse, but if any NHLer was screwed by the pandemic, it was him. His last season in Ottawa was a career year. Had there not been the pandemic and subsequent squeezing of the cap, he would have been in a position to get his retirement contract.

Staying in Nashville is a good move. Players like him can't live on reputation when they go to a new team. They have to prove themselves all over again by fighting more than they would have to if they stay on the same team. I don't know if he has been much of an enforcer in Nashville, because I haven't watched him much, but he was moving away from that role in Ottawa and trying to cement himself as more of an everyday bottom pairing defenseman.

"Rebound occurs because people mistakenly believe they have tidied thoroughly, when in fact they have only sorted and stored halfway."

— Marie Kondo.
