For me it's just that I think he'll be Seattle's guy. They already have a top Center prospect and they're decently young on the wing, but as of right now they have no 1D or any other way to get one. The gap between 2nd and 8th is small enough in this draft that I could see Francis go for it

If someone takes a Defenseman at 2, it should be Nemec. In my eyes, he's the superior player.

I completely agree, but looking at how their blueline is currently built (went into the season with an Oleksiak-Larsson top pair) Jiricek fits a style close to what Francis seems to like
