⚠️ overpay alert ⚠️

Its really not, there is not a single other stud defenseman that has term on a absolute bargain of a contract that is available to be traded for, and for Florida an overpay would be if the deal started with Lundell

Ya if I’m Arizona, number 1 priority would be getting knight, then building out, attempt to get a pile of firsts also.

The Athletic recently had an article where a number of executives were asked about potential trades and a Chychrun to Florida hypothetical was brought up.

Knight may be the dealbreaker for him going to Florida.

For reference, the proposed trade was a 2023 first, Tippet, Denisenko and Vatrano going the other way.

That 10 million on bob, kind of forces hand on moving knight at some point and adding chychrun bargain contract kind of offsets the 10 on bob a little.

You can’t hang on to all your top prospects when your team is as good as Florida. Signing Bob to that contract and then drafting Knight was a mistake. Chychrun makes the team much better now Knight will take a back seat to Bob as long as he’s on that contract this move makes sense

These players aren't prospects. They are having a positive impact on the team RIGHT NOW. This is an awful idea for Florida, and I hope that the team does not trade for Chychrun unless it is actually beneficial to the franchise.

I 100% agree on this. This is actually the exact same trade I have proposed for a while. I added Hornqvist just for cap, but this is good! I could see Florida trading those guys for a guy like Chychrun.

Knight is in the minors and Tippett is expendable if your adding Chychrun

There is another but the availability is the question. That said this guy is saying overpay alert and wants ppl to give up 1sts and blue chips for the like of Drouin and Price so really hasn't a scooby doo!

What is florida going to give up then? Especially if Lundell is untouchable? The first is a year away which makes it less valuable than teams that can offer a first this year. You have to give to get

But then again, the other executive would've turned that down as the Panthers. I, personally, don't think Arizona is in much of a position to set the price on Knight and multiple 1sts (Eichel's value), as they most likely would be stuck with Chychrun as the buyers disappear. There are too many good dmen available on the market for anyone to really overpay. Not like it would be miserable to be stuck with Chychrun...

If Knight, or a prospect of similar caliber, is a dealbreaker, I don't think Chychrun is moving

Forgive me Florida fans, but with the young goalies that Arizona has, I do believe that they would push for Lundell over Knight. I know that Lundell is an untouchable, but Arizona also doesn’t have to trade Chychrun as he is a piece that they want to build around. Arizona had Vejmelka and Prosvetov in goal, and Wedgewood has been pretty decent this year as well. I really can’t see the Yotes picking favorites out of what could be a 4 wheeled goalie situation. Plus, the rumors surrounding Chychrun were only that Arizona was “listening in on the offers” not actively searching for a trade. You really can’t put Chychrun in the same boat as Debrusk, Tarasenko, or even Klingberg. I know between Knight and Lundell, whilst not preferred to lose either, you would rather lose Knight, what makes you think that the Panthers would be able to afford both Lundell AND Knight next contract. As it stands, Huberdeau is looking at getting at least 10mil, possibly 11, Barkov has his extension kick in next year, and you also have that Bob contract. If you look at the Panthers situation cynically, you could say that they are the next Toronto in terms of their cap situation.

My point in this is, I don’t think that Chychrun gets dealt. Arizona is perfectly with keeping him, and in their eyes, you will have to put an absurd overpay in front of them to even get into serious trade talks. The Yotes hold all the Cards, and if they don’t want to trade JC, they won’t.

Cool. So it won't happen. Lundell alone has more value than Chychrun

This is a good proposal because it really makes you think.

The pieces Florida are moving aren't impact players this year so it definitely gears them up for a cup run. However, Knight is a very hard piece to give up and having him cost controlled as an insurance policy against Bob's 10mil would be huge as well.

Avs should be willing to take the same for the statistically better D in Sammy G in the off season.

Girard is very good and should get a haul but you should take into account that the Avs and yotes are on the opposite spectrum of good and bad nhl teams. Chychrun has absolutely no help in Arizona, they are horrendous, if Girard and him switched places the stats would be very different

Idk why the avs would trade him he’s on an awesome contract and should not be the first guy moved if you need cap space

He is but do you move Makar, Byram or Toews before him? EJ will finish as an Av. Murray and JJ aren't long term. Barron & Helleson are planned future. If all goes right it would be Toews-Makar, Byram-Barron, Behrens-Helleson. Girard is always the odd man out to my mind. Also with this deal Avs would collect something they really need in Spencer Knight.
