This trade is very similar to the Barclay Goodrow trade a few years ago but with an added prospect. Chicago moves up about 90 spots in the draft because its a late 3rd coming back. Hirvonen is a second round pick producing well in Liiga this year. Contract can fill an NHL sport but he is mainly an NHL deal coming back
Rangers have prioritized size and physicality recently and Ritchie provides that. They have 36 Million in cap at the deadline so they can take Ritchies money and now hamper any moves. Also, if it does not go well he can be bought out next year and only count for 300k towards the cap,
Im a Leafs fan and I’ll say this. Don’t trade any of our forward prospects as we will need them. Our defence is pretty much set as we have 5 dman with term or we own rights to that are impact players in the NHL already. With that being said Niemela we are probably gonna sell high on at the deadline.
Niemela is at least 3 years away from being in the league, and it better to sell high on him as from what I’ve seen from him he’s gonna be a number 3 dman at best or Dermott at worse.
Now you trade a 2023 1st, Mikheyev and Neimela and get Hagel it’s a win for everyone.
Yes, Hagel is nice but why do the Leafs need him? Bird/Kerfoot/Mikeheyev/Engvall are good on the left wing. Robertson and Amirov. Not saying Hawks take the deal, but it seems unnecessary.
I don't know how any team 36m in cap space. Can Ritchie even play in the Rangers top 12?
This isn't enough for Hagel. The difference between the Goodrow trade and Hagel is Goodrow had 2 playoff runs and Hagel will provide at the very least 3. Hagel is also an RFA at the end of the deal where Goodrow was a UFA. Hagel has a higher ceiling than Goodrow too. Goodrow was 26 and had a .37ppg season. Hagel is 23 with a .63ppg season. Darn near double the production.
im sorry do you work for the leafs and know they offered this? 100%? are you part of Kyle Dubas' team?
Well we know what some teams offered and similar to this and was declined, so yeah, the Hawks will get more if they decide to move Hagel....kind of simple

so you dont know that the leafs offered this then? huh, i thought you said that the report totally proved that the leafs would do this! crazy.

You said "Hagel isn't getting that" someone else responded "yeah he's right. he will get more" that is based on the news that came out and what the hawks are asking for Hagel so no, Hawks aren't touching this and doesn't matter what the leafs would do or not, Hawks aren't accepting these kind of offers...follow along please

yes, that package, from the leafs. He isnt getting that from the leafs. And nah, he's not gonna get more either and just because one team offered a 1st and a good prospect doesnt mean that it was a package as good as this because it could have literally been colorado's 2025 1st and Foudy.
And we have already been over this other part, just because the hawks want an over payment does not mean they will get one, and that is perfectly ok because they dont have a reason to move him for less.

"The Blackhawks have received multiple offers consisting of a 1st and decent prospect for Hagel but have declined"

so again, you have no idea what value that actually is and no information that the leafs have offered them anything like above. Or are you on the inside and know what was offered for sure?

id say topi will be playing in 2, with a shorter stint in the NHL, most played in the AHL

Yea but still if it is 2 seasons he’s at best a no. 3 dman. Liljegren is gonna be better in the long run cause of Liljegren defensive skill and his puck movement.

We have a good idea of what Hagel is worth; nobody cares whether the Leafs have offered a similar package or not (this AGM is a similar package), point blank Hagel isn't getting moved for a 1st and decent prospect so this doesn't work and yes, Hagel is worth more then that because the Hawks have the luxury to set the market on him. End of story
