Buffalo isn't paying you to trade for Pysyk.

A roster player, a good prospect, a fair prospect, a first, and two seconds -- it should be hard for Seattle to turn this down. The snag, of course, is Adam Larsson's full NTC.

An obscene overpay in that Seattle trade. Leafs don't want 3 full years of of 4m Larsson. He signed with Seattle for a reason, and got a NTC.

Leaf fans are getting carried away. Throwing away draft picks like yesterday's trash.

When you recognize a consistent inability to draft players, why not throw away all your draft picks on players you know might actually be worth it? That doesn’t mean these trades are even sensible for either side, but that’s the logic, right?

It’s not a bad trade but could be tweaked.

Like it or not, most Cup winning teams spend 6-8 draft picks frequently throughout the season. The Leafs have been lucky with their bargain bin shopping in the off-season (save for Ritchie). We’re upgrading at a valuable position for cheap, with term. Also a UFA forward for depth isn’t bad? And we’re also getting a few back - though I’ll grant not many.

Players with full NTCs get traded every season. Larsson is an upgrade over Holl and we get rid of Ritchie. I don’t love trading Villeneuve, but you have to give some things up to gain some things.

That's just selective justification. As if the Leafs have figured out an amazing formula on how to win a Cup with 5 straight first round playoff eliminations.

Yeah, I mean who needs draft picks? Let's just sign free agents.

Trading Ritchie will cost a second rounder. Leaf really can't afford 4m Larson next season. (do a 22/23 roster). You really think he that much of upgrade over Holl? Forget the youngster in the trade, it's still an addictional 1st and 2nd round picks. An overpay by any standards.
