Just about everyone on here overvalued how much it would cost to move Ritchie as well as how valuable Lyubushkin is.

It's a bad trade, man. They happen. I'm just surprised Bill Armstrong got fleeced like this.

I like it. A future third for lybushkin doesn't feel like a huge overpay. Seems like a good deal for him and dzingel. Then throw in dumping Ritchie? Nice

Lyubushkin alone makes this a W, but Dzingel is a very underrated player. Id play him over Engvall personally. This is such a massive W

Its a gamble trade. That 2nd in 2025 is the year after Matthews and Nylanders contracts are up. They are betting on them leaving and that pick being close to a 1st round.

They're betting they'll be in a real arena and sign Matthews by that time, cherry on top is getting a high 2nd rounder.

I simply wonder why? TDL isn't tomorrow so why not just wait for a team desperate enough to pay anything better?

Heres the thing. On the third pair Sandin-Holl works mainly due to Sandin being an amazing puck mover.

But when you got Keefe putting Muzzin-Holl out for 21 mins a night that does not work. Holl can move the puck but hes not really a "puck mover" like Rielly and Brodie are.

So that is why and I put some thought into this Keefe should try

Rielly-Lybushkin
Muzzin-Brodie
Sandin-Holl

Brodie can help Muzzin as he can move the puck. Lybushkin should go great with Rielly as Lybushkin is a stay at home defenseman while Rielly is an offense first guy. And the third pair has worked so far so just keep it

i have
Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Lyubushkin
Sandin-Holl (i think they trade dermott for a holl upgrade and make holl the #7 plus add a forward worth a first or more for the top 6)

Muzzin-Lybushkin would be a disaster. Yes it will be good defensively at times but...

Both guys are not fast, cant handle the puck (need a puck mover) and have trouble in transition.

Could see it as a PK unit.

Ritchie isn’t as bad as he’s been this year but he’s got another season. I expected AZ to get a 2nd sooner than ‘25 without Dzingel in the trade.

There was no need for some galaxy brain gamble. They got really poor value in the trade. REALLY poor.

And why would they gamble so far ahead that both leave anyway? Or that players leaving automatically means they turn into one of the worst teams?
