Trading a 2nd Rd pick to get two depth players which only cost Dubas an 5th and 6th last TDL for R. Nash and B. Hutton.

Its a 2025 2nd. I dont think Coyotes are gonna wait lul

2023 is a deep draft. Probs gonna take the 3rd as we got no idea whose in 2025.

Have you seen how many picks the 'Yotes have in the next two Drafts, they would be wise to wait.

Why wait draft fast as by 2025 that 3rd round pick probs will be with the Roadrunners developing or heck if its a steal be playing and contributing for them.

Like I dont think Coyotes want to tank till 2025 lul.

2nd round pick > 3rd round pick

2025 2nd round pick:

= Currently 14 years old
= 20% chance of making the NHL a decade from now
= 10% change of making the NHL before one of us dies

I accept those terms.

Keep the 2025 2nd Rd pick and maybe the Yotes will have a good prospect pool ready and than trade that draft pick to add a real players to get a rebuild done for Auston Matthews UFA signing.

Yeah after the recent Arizona news dont think Matthews is gonna sign their any time soon

As going to a 5000 seat University Arena is not something on his bucket list lul

As that would be a massive downgrade for him and his image.

On top of that dont think they will even have the money to get close to his 100mill signing bonuses as they couldnt even pay the bills for their arena and were late paying most of their own guys and staff

Leafs never should've signed him in the first place. He was a terrible fit. Dubas takes a big fat L on this one.

But he made up for it by trading for 2 useful players so L to W

Like people said it was Ritchie and 2nd for FC 2 weeks ago lul

As you could probs extend Dzingel for less than a mill next offseason and give Lyb a Dermott deal (if he does well)

Nah, Matthews is obviously going to come and play for his hometown team...the Sharks. He'll feel right at home on a team as good as the Sharks at choking away playoff series.

This is good move for Leafs.
Pretty happy with depth D add and Dzingel is fine depth add too.

The part of the trade that makes it clear win, no Ritchie cap hit for next year.

Not worried about coughing up a 2025 2nd even a little.

And why couldn't they have kept Brooks too, maybe Dubas should have traded an Ahl'er to VGK to get him waiver exempt just like Dubas got Clifford back, without worrying about waivers.

Brooks is better than Dzingel.

Brooks will be back in 2 weeks once Jets re-waive him

They took him cause Perfetti got hurt apparently

ARI could convert Ritchie to another pick. He was decent in both ANA and BOS. His toughness has value on the pre-playoffs market. ARI might retain some salary and get 2023 3rd round pick for him.

But Toronto cant get out of Ritchie's contract without giving up two 2nd round picks, right?!

After the Ladd cost to trade, people really said that?

I haven’t heard anyone say this, one 2nd seemed to be the highest price on this site. Leafs fans just want it to look like a bigger win than it was..

Fair deal, both sides win, Arizona gets assets in the future for depth pieces that were likely gone in the off-season and Leafs acquire depth while dumping Ritchie

How many seats are empty in Arizona?

cover10.jpg

Just wait til they get ahold of Nick Ritchie. Tens of fans will show up to see him and Kessel eat hot dogs on the ice.

Bummed CBJ didn’t make this trade. Good deal.

TOR trying to fix it's defensive issues.
Dzingle should be waived and sent to the AHL. Try to save as much cap as they can.
As for AZ, I don't think they really lost anything here. They gained a 2nd, took on a cap dump. If AZ is smart they put him on waivers. But then again they will players next year and probably cap to get to the floor.
A second for 1.3 mil in cap space next year, and some rather bland players. I'd say AZ won this. But it depends if TOR defense improves.

Toronto should be receiving future considerations in this trade.

Instead, they receive Dzingel and Lyubushkin.

I voted for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Let us pray this puts an end to all of the Severson to Toronto AGMs.
Had enough of those for a lifetime.

I didn’t even think you could trade picks 4 drafts ahead. I like the Lyubushkin pick-up. He’s been playing a Top-4 role in the desert. Slotted into a bottom pairing RD roll, this gives the Leafs actual depth on the right side in the event Holl or Liljegren get injured or implode - which feels better than 50/50.

Fingers crossed. Brooksy has been on a journey this season. Montreal, Vegas, Winnipeg. Sure he’d love to come back home.

Trade doesn’t exactly have much meaning

Ritchie is AHL caliber

Dzingal barely gets minutes on any team

Lybushuskin is someone the average fan has never even heard of
