I always said the Leafs should get Lyubushkin glad they did

Description
Always said Ilya Lyubushkin would be a good acquisition for the leafs, and Dzingel was an added sweetner with some depth scoring.

My guess next is Dermott gets moved next to keep Liljegren in the NHL

Lyubushkin is getting completely crushed in terms of Corsi, Fenwick and expected goals this year. He has a bunch more d-zone starts than o-zone, but that is not enough to make sense of it.
Considering that both are big negatives RELATIVE to his already under 50% team.
Why do we think he is an upgrade? Friedman said he's a good D-man, who has flown under the radar, so I'm interested in opinions. Probably another great Dubas deal, what do you think?

Never mentioned Engvall would be a trade candidate. Having him as the 12-13th forward like Dzingel adds some depth.
However, this trade is a sign that Dermott be soon out the door. I dont think Toronto plans to keep Liljegren in the minors

Lyubushkin might replace Holl; he's not a cut and dry upgrade to anyone on the blueline right now but not having reliable defenseman good in their own zone has bit Toronto in the ass in two playoff series.

Totally agree, there's no way the Leafs are done IMO. They have a bunch of mediocre pieces that a team without their crazy depth could use, (Holl, Dermott, Kerfoot, Engvall, Mikheyev even) as well as a few prospects and picks.

A great add next would be Brandon Hagel in Chicago. Use Dermott for mid round pick else where, then sebd Chicago a package that includes Robertson and a 1st
