Buffalo declines trading Mitts and a 1st for Garland; and I like Garland.

Why would we downgrade our skill by trading Olofsson for a 3rd/4th line physical guy?

Noted on Garland, I didn’t wanna sell him short to Vancouver. He has good term and cap for what he’ll bring us too.

I don’t think Wood is a downgrade. If anything I think they bring similar skill in different roles which I think Buffalo needs more of what Wood brings. He feels like a Tuch light and we have plenty of smaller skill guys here and coming up

I would love to acquire Wood, he was born here and his Father played for the Sabres.
I do not know if he has any emotional attachment similar to Tuch, but Miles has a decent resume.
If Victor was healthy the entire season, I would imagine his goal total would be higher and the Devils would need to add.
I think you are correct Buffalo could add a RW to next years line up.
Based on the last 22 games of last year and how much confidence management has in Casey awarding him a 3 year extension more than Tage Thompson, I think Casey could easily produce as well as Garland.
I like the first trade, not so much the second.
