Canucks aren’t giving you two 3rds for your cap dump. Everyone else declines except Dallas

I think the best we'll get for him is a 2nd. I don't think any team is desperate enough to give up a 1st for him

I guess so. I guess as long as other teams show interest it will force a team to give up a 1st

Why? That Petry trade is fair value. Biggest asset in the deal is the fact that Montreal is getting out of the rest of Petry’s contract.

Doubt Radulov goes back to Montreal, but value is closer than 90% of the other Petry to Dallas deals on this site.

That being said, if I’m Dallas I’d rather just keep the cap space from losing Radulov’s contract this offseason.

IF the Stars seriously want Petry (sounds like they’ve kicked the tires), this is good value though.

Petry isn't a cap dump that's BS from frausted fans, he isn't getting traded for a panic move he has ton of value and he'll cost a top prospect and a pick to start with

He’s closer to being a cap dump than he is to costing a top prospect & a pick. He’s already in his mid-30’s, signed to a $6M+ contract through his age 37 season, and is on pace for the worst season of his career.

If you’re trading him last year, then yeah he’s got good value attached to him, but teams aren’t trading for last year’s production. They’re trading for the player he is today & the player he will be through the end of his contract. Bottom line is that he’s hit that age where it’s expected that players fall off. If he’s 28, sure there’s a better shot at a bounce back, but at 34 no team is paying a premium for a guy that looks like he could have hit the downhill of his career.

Would you trade a high end prospect & a pick for Ryan Suter?

And Chiarot's price goes up again!

How? Nobody knows/is willing to say.

i mean i agree here. but at the same time they dont wanna pay 8x8 or whatever klingberg wants. petry allows them to stay in contention for another couple of years.

yeha they are. CJ on his podcast, EF on his podcast, Seravelli on his podcat, and marek on his radio show have confirmed that multiple teams have shown interest in chiarot, and leading among them is the blues.

He’s making 3.4M for 3 more years after this. Has 21 points in 78 games the last 2 seasons. Would be a 4th liner in Vancouver. He is a cap dump

Canucks just got rid of all their overpaid bottom 6 players that couldn’t score. Don’t need another one for 3+ seasons

I do catch Friedman's drivel. He has said nothing of the sort. Just last night he said, and I quote: "I think that St. Louis is one of the teams playing tonight that is interested in Chiarot."

That's it. A bunch of wiggle word nothing.

Now to your links. In the first link, the guy explicitly says that nobody should trade a 1st and a prospect for Chiarot, and that he does not think for one second that anybody will. He goes on to explain in detail all of Chiarot's flaws, completely demolishing every narrative many Habs fans are trying to spin here daily about Chiarot. He then states clearly that Chiarot would be a 3rd pairing D-man on the Blues. Honestly, I have to ask - did you even listen to that audio?

The second link has exactly nothing that reports or even implies that the Blues have advanced interest in Chiarot.

So.. Nothing that reports the Blues are "really interested" in Chiarot. Nothing that says his price was ever a 1st and a good prospect. Nothing + nothing = nothing. Feel free to try again if you absolutely must. But geez, at least make it a challenge worthy of a grade schooler if you do. It's like you;re not even trying.

Any idiot GM giving up a 1st for Chiarot should be immediately fired, He's a bottom pairing defenseman and he's not better then Leddy who will only return a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
