I mean, at first glance these don’t look bad. Could be a nice little retool for all teams involved.

FLA isn’t trading Marchment they’re not finding anyone better for cheaper so why would they, especially for an underwhelming winger and a 7th. Their not shuffling one of the best offenses in the league before playoffs, maybe add a depth piece. They will likely keep him as their own rental for playoffs and attempt to move someone else out to resign him in offseason

What about Kapanen + Aston-Reese + pick?

SO, the NFL didn't work out, so now Gruden is making his run to the NHL, huh?

CBJ are looking for picks/ prospects. Zucker is, at best, a parrallel move from Gus, who has been on a tear. Kuks is a great RD depth option on an expiring contract - i.e. what every playoff team needs.

Bump the pick up to a 2nd, improve the prospect add. CBJ would be willing to retain if it means improving the pick.

Reese doesn’t help your cause at all, no offense but he is pretty much worthless, maybe 5-7 rounder for him if someone is real desperate for 13th forward.

I don’t see FLA willing to move him, they will move vatrano in the off-season and put that money and some to keeping him

So unless they have conversation with him and he’s asking for unrealistic next contract or is not planning on resigning and testing FA next offseason then I don’t see him being moved. Maybe some kind of package for a defenseman for playoffs would get them to talk about including him but they will probably throw other pieces into a package before him as he’s become a reliable scorer

I would think that would get them in conversation about it but then PIT also has to talk to march about extension, as he is a UFA so without an extension in place or a resign with PIT guarantee there’s no way PIT is moving a young d on decent contract

I think we would bite on it. Mathesln gets top 4 minutes and POJ gets some ice time. Maybe we trade Kapanen or Zucker for a defenseman

Definitely plausible. I would think that if PIT wanted him they would just wait till the off-season and offer him a better contract then FLA can. Unless they really want him for a playoff push then I guess could spend assets now to get him but they’re going to have to overpay to get him outta FLA right now I think
