I think this is a fair bit short for MAF and Hagel. Chicago is getting 2 assets in the 1st round pick and Poulin. But they arent getting much in terms of Kapanen and Desmith.

To clarify, I think Kapenen could be an asset to a team thats going into the playoffs, not a team rebuilding

CHI isn't doing that. Poulin isn't an A prospect. I'm sorry if that's news to you. I'm fairly certain Alex Nylander is playing better than Poulin in the AHL, but I admittedly haven't watched the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins enough to make that kind of statement without putting out a disclaimer. PIT doesn't have the pieces to get Hagel.

Young Top 6 LW with potential, defending vezina fan favorite with 50% retained

Unfortunately only Chiarelli entertains that

Pretty easy decline by the hawks. Struggling winger that a rebuilding team doesn't want, B prospect that hasn't looked great in the AHL, late 1st, and aging backup goalie we don't want for a reigning Vezina finalist and 23 year old top 6 winger on one of the best bargain deals in the whole league

the hawks completely over rate guys.
THere is no way the penguins are giving up a 1st, a 1st prospect who is only 20, and Kap for Hagel.
Just none.

MAF, pens don't even want him.
He's a back up goalie that hawks fans think is going to return some huge return. No one is paying anything significant for a guy to play back up goalie.

MAF is the reigning Vezina winner. You know well and good he's not a "back-up" caliber goalie. I'm NOT suggesting PIT should trade for him because Jarry has more than proven himself. What I'm saying is the Hawks CAN get more (a lot more) than this post suggests for the combo of MAF retained and Hagel. If I were PIT I would NOT attempt to acquire MAF.

A. goalies have historically not returned jack. Go look at goalie trade values before assuming what you will get for him. You will realize they are not what you think. Especially for a rental.
B. I don't care what he did last year. His numbers this year are average at best. If anything he had the opportunity to show he was above that. But he did not.
You will be lucky to get a 3rd out of MAF.

I actually agree with you on the goalie value 100%! Chicago fans know all too well too. Robin Lehner got a 2nd round pick, a back up goalie, and a B prospect. So MAF would be the 2nd, DeSmith, and the name a guy I've never heard of, but 19 years old kind of prospect. MAF might get the same. We'll see. The market this year has literally 1 goalie of his caliber. So, if you want him then turn that package into a 1st, plus we'll take a small cap dump. Or go for a lesser goalie and CHI might need to settle at the end of the day for a 2nd+
