Initial Creation Date: Feb. 15, 2022
Published: Feb. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trying to be reasonable so bare with me :)
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
I think this will be the max return we get...with Hughes and Gorton's thinking i wouldn't be surprised if they went for a 2nd tier prospect like Denisenko/Sourdiff + a 2nd or 3rd
FLA
  1. Chiarot, Ben ($1,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Probably going to be our most sought-after piece (not popular amongst fan bases that's for sure!)...Other teams i think will be interested, BOS/FLA/NYR/COL/EDM/STL
2.
MTL
  1. Kravtsov, Vitali
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
I think a 2nd tier prospect + a 3rd or 4th is fine value... i think the prospect could be considered the "rental value" and the added pick is because he is an RFA
NYR
  1. Lehkonen, Artturi
Additional Details:
I think this our next best asset...teams i think will be interested, COL/EDM/TB/VGK(with Dadanov coming back)
3.
MTL
  1. 2022 4th round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
a mid pick should do
BOS
  1. Kulak, Brett ($900,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I think Kulak will be a good fallback plan for teams who miss out on their primary target
4.

Boston has a pile of mediocre LD. Don’t need more.

Panthers pass, he isn’t worth a first. Rather get Giordano

All the trades make sense, at least value-wise, reasoning's good too

fair trades i would say. i dont kulak is a fit for boston but kulak should get that value somewhere else. I feel st-louis and washington could be a good fit for chiarot. i also expect wideman to be dealt, i'm sure we can get a low pick for him. for the lekhonen deal, i would love to see pajuniemi coming back, i feel he is the type of prospet we need.

I feel chiarot woul be a better fit with the panther than giordano, they have plenty of offensive guys on the back end. i get you might not like the price but he seems like a better fit imo. (not saying you should pay a first for him tho)

My statement was based on price. If you’re giving up a first then go Giordano but if you can get Chairot for 2nd and 3rd or Tippett/Vatrano and a 2nd/3rd then probably worth it.

Panthers need a top 4 defenseman, chiarot is not that at all

Dont think you are wrong about their needs. But.., well, i would argue there is probably around 28 teams in the nhl that needs a top 4 defenseman. It has more to do about who is available for a trade and get whats the best with whats available. if you look at left defenseman, who is that? chychrun might be too expensive, not sure lindholm is really available, then there is chiarot and giordano. you get what you can. we'll see what the panther chooses.

Surprisingly ive gotten worse from Rags fans for that proposal. Many Habs fans on here do understand the trade 1:1 and are rational about it.

Wait what? Unless it was someone who simply wasn’t interested in Lehkonen I don’t know how a Rangers fan could possibly decline that.

You don’t want to know how many times I’ve had Lehkonen + xyz for Lundkvist thrown at me.
