As a Hawks fan, I would pass. With a rebuild we don't need McDermott and definitely not Dzingel. Also need a much better prospect than Holmberg. Hawks don't need to trade Hagel so they can hold out for a better deal.

Leafs fans, stop trading Dermott to the Hawks. Dermott will be perceived as a cap dump by the Hawks and not a chance they give up value for him. Hawks are loaded with younger, cheaper, higher upside, and or better players/prospects then Dermott so i'ts likely viewed as a cap dump and doesn't add value but subtracts value from any trade to them. I get he might may have value, but not to the Hawks.

Hawks already have passed up a 1st and prospect for Hagel; it's going to take a 1st plus a really good prospect to get Chicago to listen

Please excuse my ignorance on the hype for this player as I haven’t been able to watch many Chicago games this season. Looking at his stats he is shooting at an unsustainable DOUBLE his career shooting percentage of just under 20%. He would have 7-8 goals like Engvall any other year but is 5’11” 174 lbs not 6’5” 215 lbs.

6th round Buffalo draft pick and he is being pushed by fans for more than 1st round pick, top 1st round prospect, a competent 3rd pair NHL dman and a bonafide bottom 6 LW?

His career percentage? He only has 90 careers under his belt....half a season last year and half a season this year. I don't think you measure him by his career when it just started at age 22.

That's actually my point.

He is only starting his career at age 22 but he is valued higher than JT Miller in a trade? I think you can see over the last 7 years here at CF that I am not a troll or jerk. I sincerely am trying to figure out how this player is valued so high when he is small-ish, older for only having 90 career games and he is carrying a unrealistically high shooting percentage.

If he had played like this for 3 years then I would understand the value some fans are putting the value but he is considered to be worth MORE than a 1st pick, a former 1st pick prospect (although I now see it is SHL Playoffs MVP), an NHL defenceman and a NHL calibre depth LW??

He just seems over rated for so few games. I would compare him to Ilya Mikheyev to be honest but Mikheyev is 6'2" and almost McDavid fast. Not sure if Hagel is McDavid fast.

Anyway, I am not looking for an argument, I am looking for Chicago fan opinions.

Hagel is very fast, and it's not just his points but he's incredible on the forecheck and the backcheck, super aggressive player, makes hits, blocks, etc. He's a modern day, but better version of Andrew Shaw and that is the type of player every team wants to add for the playoffs.

Second point is he's signed for $1.5M for this season and two more and then a RFA, that is a huge factor as to why his price is so high as in a flat cap world that matters almost as much as what kind of player he is.

The last point is the Hawks have no reason to trade him, aren't shopping him, and multiple teams are calling about him and Hawks are saying no. A team might be crazy enough to offer a 1st plus a top prospect which IMO he isn't worth that much, but the Hawks are just as good keeping him and they know that.
