Not a joke, you really don't understand why a team trade the signing rights (and the value) on a player when he's UFA...

No, you don't understand value.

In my mind he is worth a 2nd and a 3rd. Shaw cost Mtl 2x 2rd picks and one of them ended up being DeBrincat. Thank god Bergevin is gone.

He's worth a 3rd.

We talk about Barclay Goodrow, his trade value... it's close to Lehkonen value, but the dude tell me that Goodrow was traded for a 7th round pick...

In your mind and that is fine. A GM who has an owner pushing for the playoffs will buckle cave in and pay a hefty price for someone like Lehki. It happens every year at the TDL. How many trades do you see go by and you say to yourself WTF.

In order of appearance:

1. No
2. No
3. That is wasteful..No.
4. Not today..No.

Seriously, borrowing past prime and rumor-milled players doesn't begin to equate to "going all in". In fact, it is the definition of setting up for 1994-95; right after the Cup season.

Please, allow me to suggest two things:

1. When you're looking to use this, look at both the present and future. While you want a "winner", look for filling in every hole in the lineup. Taking away from the lineup does not mean you're replacing with long-term solutions.

2. Chasing rumored players to plug in here, draws out the critics. You want a "winner", look into more realistic transactions.

Holy Snikes!!! What are you smoking on???
Montreal has like 2 players in total that could fetch a 1st round pick. MAYBE.

Have you been living under a rock?

Theres at least 10 insiders saying Chiarot is at least worth a 1st and 3rd, which gets increased in a 10 bidding war.

Lehkonen is slightly less. Like a 2nd and decent prospect. But theres like teams on him so theres a bidding war

1. I never believe in Lafreniere and still think he will be a 60pts NHL guy at top.
So that's a good return for 2 years of Miller and a possibility to reisgn him.

2. Don't cost anything but get you depth for playoff

3. Getting rid of Nemeth for 2 more year cost a 3rd.
That's basically Schneider for Chiarot and Lehkonen. That's not the price all people were thinking. That's a 1st for 2 solid player.

4. Kravtsov has nothing of value at this point. He reminds me Nishushkin when he get back to KHL to finally return in the NHL as a good 3rd line player.
Geogiev don't have the best number in net. So getting you Fleury and Strome is a fair value. Maybe they can pass on Fleury, but i'm not sure Georgiev can drive this team in the playoff if Sheshterkin hurts.

Schneider drastically changes things compared to the SJ/Tampa trade. Drastically.

Here is the cost for getting rid of Nemeth : 3rd pick.
So you get Lehkonen and Chiarot for Schneider. Don't tell me that's not a fair trade.
That's like for a 1st rd pick only.

You take your personal biases on a player and determine thats their market value. Thats not how value works

Just because Chiarot is not the 6/7 dman for an awlful Habs team doesnt change the fact Chiarot is a 6/7 dman for an above average team, let alone teams heading to playoffs with plans on multiple rounds.
Chiarot is incredibly overrated because MONTREAL SUCKS SOMETHING AWLFUL. Of course he looks serviceable among the pile of trash he currently resides in.
