Colorado isn’t trading Girard for 2 rentals

Montreal also isn't giving up Chiarot for Walker and a 2nd. We are going younger and building for the future. You are going to have to give up one of Durzi, Clarke or Grans.

Giroux isn't going to waive for LA just to be dealt to Colorado. He'll just waive for the AVs. And Girard isn't getting moved for 2 rentals either.

It seems like according to y'all the returns on Giroux and Chiarot aren't enough because their values are apparently *that* high but simultaneously the return of Giroux and Chiarot for Girard *also* isn't high enough? Based on what I've heard and researched of similar trades from years past (Toffoli, Stone, Green, Martinez) the values are about correct, and fit is there.

Come on... 5.5 years of Girard for 0.5 years of Giroux + garbage Chiarot?

I said one of not necessarily Clarke per say but the point was any deal would have to revolve around a top 4 potential young RHD. Something Montreal needs not more of the same as we already have. I have been proposing Grans cause I know Clarke is pretty well untouchable.

I don’t see any of the names you mentioned for Chiarot. Outside of Montreal and Canadian news media nobody thinks he’s worth anywhere near that.

The reports are the ask is a 1st + good prospect. Is this too much IMO yes it is but that is how negotiating works. Since Montreal would rather have young NHL ready prospects, I was laying out who Montreal would be targeting over who L.A. fans want to give up. Our needs are top 6 C and top 4 RD under 25 to fit our window. Who else other than Durzi, Grans and Clarke fit that D description. As for Center we would target one of Valardi or Turcotte since Byfield is a no go as well. It has nothing to do with the media it's just simple logic we have a hole you want Chiarot, you fill our hole.

It has a lot to do with the media; the more they are takes about the better the chances the price goes up. 32 Thoughts and Seravalli pumping Montreal players as hard as they can. It’s behooves them to have more to talk about and specifically Canadian teams. I understand a team wants to fill its needs but the ask is crazy for a guy who brings no offense and doesn’t even have good defensive numbers

You do realize that Seravalli is from Philly and Freidman and Merrick are from Toronto and none of them even like the Habs. Freidman and Merrick both work for Sportsnet and are huge Leafs fans. None of those guys have anything to do with Rodgers (the main sponsor of the Habs) or the Habs themselves. It does not benefit any of them to "pump up the value" of Habs players. In fact since Seravalli is a Flyers fan he couldn't care less about pumping up the value of any Canadian teams players and Friedman and Merrick cheer for the Habs biggest rival who are sponsored by Sportsnet (the company they work for) so it actually behooves them to run the players values down not up.
