    1) That doesn't get you Miller.
    2) Why would you be a buyer at the TDL? You're in the middle of a rebuild.

Edmonton declines. Miller isn't at all the player-type they need and that price is overly steep anyhow.

No way would I give up Mittelstadt for Miller. He’s got one more year left and he’s going to be 29 next year. He doesn’t fit in. He came in strong for Granato last year and was the Sabres best player in Camp. If he didn’t get hurt, he could have had the Tage Thompson breakout. With him healthy, the Sabres have four viable young center candidates with Tage, Cozens, Krebs, and Mitts, and his value couldn’t be lower right now because of the injury:

I agree you need a little more to get Miller, that deal makes no sense for both sides

Olafsson also isn’t worth a first, and he’s never really had that kind of value. Colin Miller probably has more value right now because RHD are expensive and hard to come by. Victor Arvidsson got a second and a third and Arvidsson is a much better two way player. Olafsson probably gets a second at best with nothing else attached, mainly because of his PP abilities, although that’s been way down this year and his cap hit. He is very cheap and that’s a plus.

Bryson also doesn’t have that kind of value and Jamie Oleksiaknlikely vetoes the trade due to the NTC. You’d be better off targeting Borgen for cheap

Less about buying at the deadline and more about bringing in a couple high end players to continue to promote growth among the youth.
I'm fully willing to add to this trade as well.

Its less about buying for the remainder of this year and more about buying for the next...

You're selling olofsson short here. Honestly, I wouldn't move him for less than a first. Tough to evaluate him based just on this year- he started out playing much better 5v5, then he got hurt and has played through it, plus at least some of the time he was playing on Thompsons wing, Thompson is not afraid to call his own number, but he doesn't do much to set up his wingers. Olofsson is a guy with an elite shot, he also has some good looks on his assists. The trick with him, and any winger really, is can you get him cheap enough. What's olofsson worth, based on his production and injuries (the ones that kept him out plus the ones that he played through)- I think he gets 5m. That means he isn't getting so much that you can move him if the right deal comes along.

19 goals in his past 90 games is not with a first rounder for most teams, although with declining production over the past three years. Until he learns he needs to go to the net and not play on the perimeter, he’s never going to be the goal scorer he can be until that changes.

I wouldn’t move Olafsson at all because he does seem to have a fit playing with Cozens and Krebs. He could rebound next season, but as of right now if traded to day, a second would be the best they can do, and the only good thing he has is a low cap hit

Not dumping Bryson when he could be our 6th/7th D-man. Not trading Joki for Oleksiak who wouldn't waive his NTC anyways

While I agree that he is just out of first round value at this moment, I would not move him for less. He needs to get healthy and play with an actual play making center. There's no good reason to sell low.
