This is fine, but I think the Caps need forward help. I am not talking about forward depth either. Need to get a top 6 / 9 two-way forward.

Also small detail here but defensive lines in this scenario would be the following:
Fehervary - Carlson
Orlov - Jensen
Reilly - TVR

I would give up Vanecek over Samsonov based on that Samsonov has more upside. I haven't really kept up with Jersey this year, but what's up with Blackwood this year? Has he been playing injured or has he just been subpar?

See i disagree with them needing forwards

when healthy
Ovechkin Kuzy Wilson
Mantha Backy Oshie
Snively Eller Sheary
Hags dowd HAthaway ( amazing 4th line) who do you take out of the line up PLUS you have Sprong McM Protas AJF

Yeah I see your point. And at the beginning of the season, the offense was rolling (when healthy). I love Snively, and right now you cannot take him out of the lineup. I hope that continues, but I have a feeling he is not the answer. Sprong or McM could slot in, but with all the injuries so far and players not being able to stay healthy (i.e., Oshie), making a forward move would be nice to have (depending the cost). [EDIT] Look at Protas - he started so hot and everyone thought he was the answer. Then went very, very cold.

thats expected when they are young... imo i would rather let them get the experience in the playoffs than move a pick for a rental that more than likely wont push us over the edge

Fair. I was hoping for a Garland type (who has some years left on the contract). But sooner or later, Caps will have to play their younger guys. And when that has happened, we have seen success / energy / speed.

i would be fine with moving Mantha for Garland in some type of trade... ideally i would love to see us trade Elller have McM fill in that spot next year

Edmonton declines. They might be looking for a physical defensive defenseman, certainly not a Schultz. They already have Barrie and Bouchard as offensive guys on the right side.

No, I don't think we need forward help. If we did acquire a FW, I'd like for it to be Garland instead of Zacha

Agreed and I do see that happening. I think that would be a perfect fit. Also, I see Lap getting time in the next 2-3 years. He has been on an absolute roll recently (I think 7 goals and 6 assists in the last 5-6 games)

Schultz, 4th for 2nd

Even with the 4th going back, I don't think they get a 2nd for Schultz. If he gets moved, period, it would be an impulse buy at the register at 2:55pm 3/21, or nearly free/small pay by the Caps if the Caps want to make a different move and need cap space. For the on-ice return, the $4M prorated hit really restricts other better moves any other team would make.
