Its an overpay and the islanders accept. The 1st and Koskinen for Varly would probably be accepted by NYI.

If u want the Sabres to take Koskinen, you’re gonna have to give us a pick bc we’ll have to spend the $$ to pay him
He’s a cap dump

Don’t understand why fans seems to think one of the most productive d for years that’s right handed premium position is worthless. Mind blowing oilers won’t move Barrie right after extending him. Sorry to say but it’s dumb idea

Jackets accept. We don’t need Barrie but at that price who says no.

He's the worst defensemen on the team statistically, he's even been moved off of the powerplay because he's been scored on short handed a few times now.

His offensive production is way down this year too. We shouldn't have extended him, I think that was a knee-jerk reaction when Larsson went to Seattle.

Nah, and lol.

Based on the setup here there's 7m cap room, they'd just bury him in the minors if that's the response 🤷

Isn’t it short sighted to move a guy who has been tremendously productive with this team just because he’s having a down year? That seems like a knee jerk reaction.

He's having a better season than John Klingberg, yet I don't see people throwing Klingberg away like a cap dump. On the contrary, the asking price is high and Klingberg is expected to get a big contract in the offseason.

This is really stupid stuff here.

Instead of dumping Koskinen, you can roll him into the Islanders trade. He's of no real value besides spelling Sorokin a couple times before walking at the end of the season, and then you don't have to spend an asset to move him somewhere else. Everyone wins!

But that's a huge undersell on Barrie. It's obvious that Oilers fans are split on him but at the end of the day, that contract is not so onerous that they have to dump him for nothing. They can shop him in the offseason and get a decent NHL player back for him without attaching picks - he's got his deficiencies but has enough of a track record of success that I don't think one bad year should be that heavy of an anchor on him.

Koskinen is 5-0-1 and .910 in the past month, he's not going to the minors.

If I could I would like that comment a dozen times it’s refreshing seeing someone share that view on Barrie. Painful constantly seeing him used as a cap dump or be valued on the same level as a guy like Braun.

You are both correct.
This trade is insanely bad.
As a Sabre fan, every time there is a trade of him going to Buffalo for a 2nd or less, I always say yes as I know he is much more valuable than that.
Nearly all other Sabre fans dislike my comment. How would they know, they only watch him play but once a year.
When Buffalo plays Edmonton the Sabre fans are most likely only watching their players, or worse only half watching the game.
If he were traded to Buffalo he would be their best RHD right now and fit in perfectly with the Granato system.
