Forsberg

Created by: vikhodush
Team: 2021-22 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 23, 2022
Published: Feb. 23, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Forsberg would be the perfect fit. Would likely be a rental for the Canes so very unlikely they’d give up the assets required to land him if it’s just a rental.

Not sure if Murphy is or will be on the block but wanted to explore a different option and I hadn’t seen that on here yet. Open to other options - if TDA is healthy preference would be to shore up 2LD but if the injury is gonna be a problem may need an RD who can run PP.

Hopefully value is alright in these trades - kind of did it on the fly so welcome feedback / counters.

Suzuki and Gunler are the only decent pieces in the whole deal, And fat chance of David Poile retaining 50% on Forsberg without a 1st round pick going back to Nashville.

Could potentially take Lorentz and the third out and flip second to a first. On the fence if that’s worth it personally and doubt Canes would do that since they already don’t have next years first and 23 draft is loaded, at least not for a rental. I get it tho - gotta give to get.

i don’t see the hawks retaining on murphy considering he just signed an extension, that’d be like four retention years

Ah my bad - I didn’t realize that. Was just flipping through guys I liked and noticed he only had a year left on deal according to capfriendly. Never mind then haha

This would be easily beaten by other stacked teams such as the NYR and LA. LA would probably be a perfect fit for Forsberg since they're looking for another top 6 winger.

They def have the assets to do it - they both seemed hesitant to include some of their top prospects in trades last offseason (like for Eichel) so idk how willing they would be to move those same top prospects for a rental but never know.

If you wanted Murph long term, there could be a chance we retain on his current deal which ends this season. This package I wouldn't be okay with as he does have Term and is quite valuable to us. With the hawks wanting to get younger they would probably want a look at Morrow in any potential deal. Whether the Canes would be willing to include him is a different thing altogether.

Yeah, Morrow would need to be in a package with Cat coming back.

Yeah that was my fault. Totally blanked on his extension. Would still be an interesting piece but idk what the right value would be for him or if the canes would include morrow to your point.

Yeah he would be great for any contending team though yeah as suggested for us to part with him it would take a fair bit which would require one of your better prospects coming back.

Morrow is developing at a similar rate to Cale Makar at BU. No one is saying he'll be as good as Makar, but that's a blue chip prospect...
