I think Leafs would do that trade, would probably want kerfoot going the other way though for cap reasons next year maybe something like Kerfoot, Niemla, and Villenuve

There’s no way you get both those player without giving up a top prospect

I don't mind taking Kerfoot to make the cap work but not if you're gonna replace him with another piece.

Two top prospects in exchange for Miller is to rich for the leafs maybe another team will give you that not us tho. I’d do Robertson,Villeneuve and a first

That's not gonna work for the Canucks. He's gonna cost a fortune considering he's top 10 in scoring and has multiple years left

Kerfoot is on pace for 60pts and is only making 3.5 million and he’s got another year on his deal he’s very valuable to us

Not 100% sure what you mean by replace him with another piece. I would center the trade around kerf going for the cap + 2 high end prospects and at least a 1st round pick. Kerfoot would play in the top 6 for Van too in the meantime

First trade is decent. Retention might be a little much, but they get a promising right handed defenseman who has had decent top 4 numbers (might be more valuable to keep) a 1st, roster player and steeves, who is rather underrated with 30 points in 30 games during his first ahl season. But I forgot Miller is the most valuable player in the league lol. Realistically it would be Niemela, 1st, kerfoot without Retention. Maybe a slight increase.

Columbus trade is really off. Gavrikov is a very good cheap top 4 defenseman. He would probably get min 1st and top prospect +. Maybe I'm overeating him? I don't think they would target him since he's a lefty unless they can move muzzin? Idk, but I really like the player.

Wasn't sure what the value of Gavrikov would be, i would expect Domi to move this deadline but wouldnt expect the cost to be much more than a 2nd round pick or decent prospect

If that’s the case then the Leafs will just go in a different direction there’s a fair amount of team looking to sell forwards right now and the leafs are one of the only teams that have a first they are willing to move. Just know his value won’t be any higher then it is right now he’s going into the last year of his deal and will be looking for a big pay day in free agency

He would cost too much. Very good player. Domi would be decent and not super expensive. What about texier? Not sure why he's available but I've always liked him.

I personally don’t think Vancouver even wants to move him unless they rip off the other team. They just aren’t interested in making a fair trade

Well the fans aren't interested in fair trades. They should be careful. This is similar to the Forsberg and Rakell situations last year. The 1.5 years gets you lots of value, yet they assume the players will have the same if not more value with less term in the deal? It's so stupid. Now those players will get a fraction of what they could have gotten. They probably keep him though you are correct.

Definitely like the idea of Texier and Domi depending on what it would cost. Also internally thought about putting together a trade offer for Pavelski that would include Robertson so Dallas could have both the brothers but again, depends on what else it would cost and if Pavelski would even want to play in Canada with all the COVID BS

Kerfoot > Domi

In terms of skill absolutely, but in terms of fit for the leafs? Domi can still play, he would be FIRED up to be in Toronto, and he would add a different element in a bit of toughness compared to the more soft skill that Kerfoot brings. IMO Leafs have lots of soft skill, Jason Spezza shouldn't be the one sticking up for teammates on this team. I know we have Simmons but could use another player that can play and stir **** up.

TOR needs players with more term, especially with them being probably under 50% chance of winning first round. That's why they will probably look at the Hagel/texier type players. Colorado/Tampa/Florida/Carolina are probably the biggest players for rentals as they are they best teams this year

he would also bring a lot of stupid penalties. Kerfoot has made his case in the last playoff and this whole year how consistent he is. Very versatile. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that the leafs would benefit from the passionate playing style and history that Domi would bring, but not at kerfoot expense, IMO only.

this is a great take and i agree with you, i see a world where we can keep kerfoot and still add Domi and maybe another piece from CBJ like Texier. My original move with Kerfoot was only to Van when i had JT Miller as part of the package coming back. I love the idea of keeping Kerf cause youre right, he was great last year in playoffs and has been very consistent this year. The last couple of weeks the leafs second line has struggled and while i think JT miller could ignite that line it would cost a lot and if Kerf can stay and help them get out of their current rut im just as happy to keep him
