Dallas trade deadline retool

Team: 2021-22 Dallas Stars
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 27, 2022
Published: Feb. 27, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
DAL
  1. Tippett, Owen
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (FLA)
  3. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
if david savard got traded for a 1st and 3rd. John Klingberg can certainly can. Owen Tippett is young enough to turn things around. A new team couldn't hurt
FLA
  1. Klingberg, John
Additional Details:
Dallas needs to decide between trying to go for a wildcard spot or trading off some expiring deals. That being said going for it only gets you either just missing or getting beat down in the first round from avs/flames.
2.
DAL
  1. Chytil, Filip
  2. 2022 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Rangers need scoring. 5v5 especially. They can't rely on Igor Shesterkin to win them a cup all on his own. Pavelski fits as he can play Rw. a huge need with Buch traded, Blais and Kakko hurt. And Vitali Kravtsov not wanting to play for them. Flip Chytil is another young guy who the stars can try and turn around. I see alot of rangers fans who hate on Chytil for his struggles. although he gets his fare share of love. a fanbase where he has lots of support certainly helps.
NYR
  1. Pavelski, Joe
Additional Details:
It's not every day a 37 year old can get you a 1st round pick. I think the Stars have to take advantage of this.
3.
DAL
  1. 2022 5th round pick (EDM)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
I think this is a last resort option for Edmonton. Husso Varlamov and Fleury will be first pptions.
EDM
  1. Holtby, Braden
Additional Details:
Might aswell trade Holtby. Doubt he takes a backup role next year to Oettinger
4.
DAL
  1. Stolarz, Anthony
Additional Details:
Lucas Dostal is ready
ANA
  1. 2022 4th round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Dallas isn't going full blown rebuild so I think they add stolarz as a backup. He has some sneaky potential to be a pretty good goalie
5.
DAL
  1. Dermott, Travis
Additional Details:
Again, just trying to make something out of nothing
TOR
  1. 2023 5th round pick (DAL)
6.
DAL
  1. 2022 7th round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. 2022 7th round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Just using this to leave my final comments. I think this is great for the stars. trade some expiring contracts with value. get good picks and some players with a little potential. if they break out you can still make the playoffs with some added picks. if they suck trade them off. but chytil and tippett i think will be great on offense. I doubt Dermott works. Stolarz can definitly work and even maybe have some good trade value out of him.

I might take the FLA trade, but I'd want Lundkvist from NYR instead of Chytil. If we deal Klingberg, we need a young RHD from somewhere, and NYR has a plenty of them.

It'd be pointless to move Holtby and then acquire Stolarz. Just promote Dobby from AHL, he can take the 2G role.

I don't see a point for TOR to move Dermott for nothing.

I don't mind the cost of Holtby but you'd have to take back Koskinen for the cap and roster situation to work. Given it expires at the end of the year and these moves aren't made with the intention of making a playoff push, would that be reasonable? Not like you'd be doing anything else with the 4.5mil wink

I think Dostal needs another year so the Anaheim trade is a year too soon

If we got either a better pick (2nd instead of 3rd) or a prospect instead of the 5th then I think the Stars would take Koskinen.

2nd, 5th and Koskinen for Holtby
or
3rd, Samorukov and Koskinen for Holtby.

What do you think it would take to get Hronek from Detroit? A player like Stankoven (one for one) maybe? In this case you could stay competitive and cap compliant while adding Chytil. He’s fast. Might work well with Guri.

No, I don't think DET is trading Hronek, a young roster player to an unestablished prospect right now. It would need to be a more established young player for them to bite. Unfortunately I don't think Dallas has much to offer here. Harley probably hits closest to home since DET needs LHDs but they won't be going 1-on-1 on that.

I'm not a huge fan of Chytil. He reminds me of Janmark. Doesn't have many strengths, he's just fast and bang average on everything.
