I agree but it obviously influenced him as he hasn't again even when his team is really good contenders

I am not saying he would/should all I am saying is no one can guarantee anything.

Sousy would be a good cheaper option or if you are just looking for cheap depth then depending on the bigger need (LD or RD) either Pysyk or Hagg from the Sabers

Then your going to need to pony up for one of the younger ones (Chychrun) or consider one of Leddy or De Haan (both of which are more expensive cap wise than Chiarot and likely around the same price to acquire (maybe a bit more). Either way it seems like there aren't many top 4 options available without moving serious money around.

The horrible play that made Montreal rely so heavily on Price in the playoffs. Never said he was an ECHL player, but he's a number 4 defenseman on his best days. But we could talk about his team leading giveaways in the playoffs, defenseman with the highest expected goals against (2nd lowest on team) in playoffs. He's a great shot blocker, I'll give him that, but doesn't provide a ton of anything else the Blues need right now

Who's played #1 Minutes ahead of Weber and Petry since arriving
Makes sense if you completely ignore reality and base things on lack of knowledge.

Is Chiarot a #1 guy? No
Do i think he's Top Pair nevertheless ? Yeah on most teams or a #3D on 2nd Pair

He plays top PK for a reason , he's that good even when the team sucks he doesnt
Is he a Shooter? God no
But he set up a lot of good goals for Petry and Weber over the years

A Team like SJS would be Ideal really for Chiarot
They have a similar set up and could benefit from his ability to set up a smooth 1 timer shot
I think LAK could make a lot of sense to given Danault/Chiarot lead the top PK in the playoffs last year(the only reason MTL made a SCF IMO)

He's not meant to be the guy
He's meant to be the Workhorse who eats up Minutes for The Guy

As far as Price in the Playoffs he was good in half his games
Look at his numbers they dont lie.

He'd have a really big couple games after having really stale games for a few before that.
2014 ECF 100% carried us start to finish and when he went down that was it MTL was done.
Last year if Price went down in the ECF i sincerely believe Allen would have won as many games as Price did from that point forward
When faced in a Goalie Duel Price's weakness's were exposed in both the Conference and Stanley Cup Finals

I wish i could pretend otherwise given his age and cap
It would deffinately bolster his value
But that's just not the reality we live in

Don't think it was Price's weaknesses exposed more so that Tampa is just a much better team in all aspects of the game. That's tough on any goalie. In the playoffs last year in 7 games where his save percentage was below .900, 3 of which were against Tampa (note, his last two games against them he posted a .941 and .967 respectively) . This is the same number of sub .900 games as Binnington in 2019, but Price's save percentage was higher. He got them to the Finals last year.

Chiarot is a great shot blocker. I'll give him that. But he's a giveaway machine, he doesn't generate offense even from a defensive point shares perspective. He's a glorified Bortuzzo or Russell. That's it.

He had a back up who kept us in the playoffs
Who he thought so highly of he waived his NMC so he wouldnt be claimed by Seattle
      He chose to start
If he felt like you're saying he coulda let Allen start
He had no issue playing with those same players

Reality is Price isnt always playing every game at his best
      Nor should he have to
But we cant make excuses for his bad games

He got us there, He stole games but he was just 1 piece in the system
In 2014 he was the system all by himself as our 3rd line was the only one that didnt choke on him(Vanek-Eller-Bourque)
It was the Carey Price Show undisputed as it had been really all that year.

      This time wasnt that
Anyone who watched him knows the difference
People who just crap on fanbase's find excuses to do it no matter what

Not saying he was at his best every game. But when MTL needed him he was excellent (minus games 1-3 against Tampa). He also waived his NMC because he knew Seattle was never going to take him (who would take a goalie making over 10 mil in hid 30s).
His defense was okay, it wasn't great. Wasn't the best team defense either. Trust a Blues fan here when I say they wouldn't have made it to the finals with Allen. There's a reason he always lost the starter job.

His wife disagree's with that take
She wrote about what she had to deal with during that time
They knew it was a real possibility
Carey was less convinced but she was not

She touched more on this after Price entered the Program
Citing Anxiety caused from that debacle as something that weighed on her
Before championing her husband for seeking help

      Follow Angela Price on Twitter
She talks a lot more then most hockey wives are usually allowed to online without getting scolded

As far what STL fans know
They also know they'd never make the finals without Allen either
They had a fresh goalie go in and take over with a starter on back up
Look at their lack of success and just making the playoffs to exit them since

MAF had it happen to him with Murray
      Crawford with Darling
      Quick with Bernier
      Lunqvist with Talbot

There's always a Goalie who gets over payed after playing Tandem with a great Goalie
Where are all those Goalies after their paydays?
More importantly who did most of those teams keep and have success with 3/4?
      STL made the wrong choice
Nothing but 1st round exits since their cup
Allen is fresh off another SCF with a team

Allens a Tandem Goalie and Knows it building up whomever he plays with making them better.
Binnigton is still trying to be a Starter solo

      STL made the wrong choice
Nothing but 1st round exits since their cup
Allen is fresh off another SCF with a team

Allens a Tandem Goalie and Knows it building up whomever he plays with making them better.
Binnigton is still trying to be a Starter solo

Just because Price's wife disagrees doesn't make it true. Again, he played great a lot more than he played mediocre or bad. This isn't even debatable so not sure why you're arguing other than to try to prop up a mediocre defenseman in Chiarot.
While yes, a good back up is good to have in season, it has little to nothing to do with playoff success. Binner shined because he outplayed Allen and went on a major hot streak because Allen sucked. And guess what, one of those years the Blues have exited since the Cup season Allen was the back up so he didn't make a huge difference which renders your point moot.

Seriously, why do Montreal fans think Chiarot's value is increasing at an exponential rate? He's not worth Ellis or a first alone, let alone both combined.

      I can't believe it lol

I can just because Florida is desperate. I dont think anyone really thinks he's worth a 1st. The 4th and the C prospect were just to retain salary.
