Can't do conditional picks based on re-signing. I do get a kick out of the fact though, that 4 or so months ago, if you offered that package for Eichel, Rangers fans would have come after you with pitchforks tears of joy

Now, I don't think it's out of the question at all for 1.25 years of Miller.

I always here this argument but how many team can afford a 10 mil forward? especially one with a precarious injury? You'd have to blow up your team to get Eichel in. You have to make much much smaller concessions to fit Miller in. And yes Eichel is a better player or at least he was. By how much not that much.

I mean, if we sat here in October and said "Can Vegas afford Eichel?", 99% of us would have said "HAHAHAHA, NFW." Or at least "Well, they'd have to move Dadonov, Smith, Marchy, etc.", yet here we are, with Eichel on Vegas, and the only cap that they moved was Tuch @ $4.75.

Now, I think we could certainly argue the semantics around cap circumvention until the cows come home, but Vegas has continued to be extremely bold, and continues to make it work. Again, I think it's a pretty fair deal for Miller, but it certainly goes to show you that prospect hording isn't typically the answer.

Rangers would be wise to pull the trigger on a deal like that.

They'll lose some players before next season for sure. My point is way more teams can take on Miller. And he's not that much worse of a player, if at all given current circumstances.

Prospect hording? you mean what Buffalo is doing? or something else?
