Oh honey no...

Lol obviously hypothetical, but what is your biggest fear? A long term deal would have to be in place before the trade for sure.

It can be your first with the jackets adding some back (later of CBJ and CHI involved) or it could be florida's plus decent value but I don't think Quinn and the first alone get talks progressing

So you think it will be a top 3 pick?

Yeah then I think it doesnt get done, his value is inflated now due to how he has been playing but 2 months ago this guy was actively being shopped around. Look at what sam reinhart, buchnevich, etc got for returns.

Buchnevich trade gets mocked online daily for being horrible asset management. That said, Laine has said multiple times he enjoys columbus and is open to resigning long term. With the CBJ management's philosophy of making this a quicker turnaround, I doubt they get rid of laine unless it is for a haul.

We just started a rebuild.

Why would we trade our 2nd best prospect and a 1st for a player who is one year away from UFA and is a limited player?

Because he is likely better than that prospect will ever be and we have the cap to sign him long term. Lets not act like quinn is some defensive spectacle

this is a bad idea for the Buffalo. Laine is unlikely to stay in Buffalo without a gross overpayment. Buffalo doesnt have the center to help drive a line for him to make him worth the contract.

would probably need to be Quinn, our first and another prospect. I dont think BUF is 1 patrik Laine away from contending so idk if id want this trade to happen.

I hate these threads where we give up the farm for wingers. We are bleeding for a franchise center and 2-3 right shot d, the last thing we need to do is move assets for a winger.

How about we don’t trade for Laine
He’s gonna want an enormous contract
And he’s not the right guy to be building our team around

We don’t need to rush things
Speeding up the rebuild is the mistake we made last time
Let’s not repeat it

Laine is a little different player than montour or colin miller, but i do in fact agree the trade wouldnt be what is best

I didn’t say he was Montour or Miller
He’s more comparable to Kane though
Not in style of play, but that he’s a guy who isn’t good enough to build a team around
And we’d have to give him a giant contract right away to keep him

Not a good idea imo
