Why would Carolina consider giving up the better players? KK has been way better than Dvorak this year, and for the better part of the year until MSL came in, had more goals than the Habs had wins. Lehkonen wont even crack the Canes roster. Lorentz and Martinook are playing some of the best hockey of their career right now, and Stepan is chomping at the bit to get onto the roster. Lehkonen wont beat out Fast or Jarvis either, and he doesn’t play center, so that would rule out KK too. It would be a waste of assets to acquire Lehkonen. I would be fine with a Dvorak acquisition, but I don’t think that the Habs will trade him until he plays a couple games under MSL to try and recover his value. Taking into account his contract, he is worth at least a second, but the Habs are going to want about what they gave up for him, and right now they won’t get that.
I believe that Dvorak has untapped potential that hasn’t been seen since he was in the OHL. I also believe that if anyone can pull the potential out it would be Brindy. I would love to see Dvorak play for the Canes, and he would be a perfect fit for the Canes.
Counter offer:
Habs: 2023 first round pick, Ryan Suzuki, Conditional 2024 2nd round pick (Conditions: If Carolina wins the Stanley Cup in either 2022 or 2023, Montreal gets the pick. If they don’t win the Stanley Cup in either of those years, Montreal gets a 2024 5th round pick.)
Arizona: Dvorak (from Montreal), Carolina’s 2023 second round pick
Carolina: Dvorak (from Arizona) 50% retained, Montreal’s 2022 6th round pick
