Description
Hello, I was just trying to get BUF fans opinions here. What do you think Tage Thompson worth would be at the TDL? Generically speaking, obviously it changes per team and what they have to offer.

Do you think they even entertain trading him after the season he is having?

I’m guessing most will say he’s unavailable and I’m assuming BUF probably plans on building a team around him based off this season and him showing how effective he can be but hey doesn’t hurt to ask right

Would you trade him while his price is highest it’s ever been ir use him as future building block?

I didn’t put anything in return cause I didn’t want to lowball or over pay and make someone angry, and I’m not really asking from a ANA standpoint just a anyteam standpoint really.

What do you think BUF needs in return for player positions? Forwards? D’s, ect?

Thank you for your feedback in advance

I mean, screw the perpetual rebuild, but strictly from a value perspective, I think Tage is one that everyone on this site would have to agree would be worth an absolute boatload on. He and Troy Terry have to be the breakout players of the year, and both are under team control for $1.45/1.4 mil next year. Insane.

I agree, it’s crazy how much both of them advanced this year, just goes to show how timing and fitment can be everything in a trade

Just from a Ducks fans perspective, to see the growth in Terry, in spite of the ridiculous usage team-wise by Eakins this year, is nuts. Eakins rolls 4 lines for 3 periods, even though it's a 2 line team. Tie game, 5 mins left? "Screw itttt, let's fire Derek Grant out there boys!"

Hey he believes in his team, that’s great! As a player you know how much self confidence that creates in your game to know the coach trust you to go out and do a job no matter where you are in the lineup

Hey if Tage is moving BOS wants in! LoL I don’t see Tage being moved but if he was to be moved, after the years he’s had it would be 1st, top prospect And another piece I would think. Funny cause last year you probably could of gotten him for idk 2nd and maybe mid prospect at most. Ain’t it crazy how one shake up can change a dudes trajectory so quick

I mean, I get that if it were a minor hockey team, but Derek Grant is being extremely well compensated to be a 31 year old 4th liner. There's literally zero reason to be playing him in the last 5 minutes of a tight hockey game tears of joy

I'm not as enamored with Thompson as most. Having said that, a young defensive top 4 right d would make for a conversation. Honestly, I'm not a fan, but the owner reportedly said Thompson could not be exposed in expansion. He and Ryan johnson are the last pieces from the ror trade, a trade that ranks among the worst in the league, at least since Yashin got traded for Chara and a pick that became Spezza. So there's a billionaire owner with egg on his face that is gonna wanna keep Thompson. If you are gonna offer, make it good.

Tage is currently our best center, very cheap next year, and then an RFA. With how our roster is, moving him might set our rebuild back another year, can’t really see him being moved, it would take an overpayment. The teams that could afford him wouldn’t want to, and the teams that want to for the most part would be unable to afford him.

I think Tage is basically untouchable at this point
He’s developed into a pretty good young player for us
    Fits our rebuilding timeline well

What possible reason could we have to trade him?
The proposals that idiots on here are gonna throw out for him just aren’t gonna cut it
No reason to give him up for a bunch of “pieces”

Who the best RH defenseman that’s 24 or younger?
Maybe then it could make sense
    But that’s about it imo

He's been so good this year, that we won't move him anyway.

Yes that O'Reilly trade was bad.
While he was a Sabre, Buffalo made the playoffs every year, if you turned the standings upside down.
O'Reilly lost his love of the game and led the team to Dahlin, so I guess that was good.
So let's see, O'Reilly plays on a loaded team with a great GK and has 12 goals and 35 pts.
Thompson plays on a one line team and has 23 goals and 41 points.
The second from that trade brought in Miller.
Lastly, I guess you also forgot that Binnington essentially led the Blues to the playoffs as they were in last place OA on Jan 3rd 2019.
When a player says in an interview, more than once, that he gave up at the beginning of the season, what sort of return would you expect?
You are correct worse trade ever because Buffalo got nothing out of it other than their top center, top RHD and a good LHD prospect.
I am sure you will counter that the Blues won the cup, but forget that they missed the playoff by one point the previous year then added not only O'Reilly but Perron and Bozak, while as I said Binnington was lights out going 24-5-1 after the first of the year.
Yup O'Reilly WAS THE ONLY REASON THE BLUES WON THE CUP

Finally, I have said for the last three years big players take longer to develop, I am sorry that you do not see it and "egg on his face that is gonna wanna keep Thompson" that 23 goals egg is tasting pretty good right now.

This whole thing is wrong. Probably gonna have to agree to disagree.
